Workbased Learning: Reflection on Acquired Skills and Future Development

This report reflects on the workbased learning experience and the skills acquired during the session, including communication, team unity, time management, and decision making. It also discusses specific workplace skills acquired, such as problem solving, leadership, critical analysis, and collaboration, and identifies skills that need to be developed for future job roles, including motivation, digital skills, self-management, monitoring, and emotional intelligence. An action plan is provided for developing these skills.

INTRODUCTION
Work based learning refers to the learning that has been experienced while doing actual
work at the workplace. However, it is highly important that students must acquire work based
learning while studying. The present report is based on performing reflection over the work
based learning that has been acquired throughout the session. Reflection enables an individual in
terms of analysing strength and weakness that has been possessed by the person (Anderson,
2020). Thus, with the help of reflection I will show the major learning that has been made by me
during this module. Furthermore, specific skills that has been acquired in the session will be
explained. Moreover, those skills that are needed to be developed for future purpose will also
been shown. Lastly, the action plan will be made in order to develop those skills that are needed
to be developed for future job role.

Learning has been made during this module
In this session I have got the numerous opportunities in terms of developing myself from
all aspects whether it is personal or professional. In the whole session I have made the effective
learning that will be highly beneficial for my future. The major skills that has been acquired me
during this module are- Communication, team unity, time management and decision making
skills. Thus, I have got effective opportunity in terms of developing me and experiencing
effective development in me. Coming towards first skill that has been developed in me which is
communication skill.
Communication skill refers to the effective listening and speaking ability that enables an
individual in order to communicate in effective manner (Yudiono and et.al., 2021). Thus, this
skill has been acquired by me during the session. Earlier I used to have ineffective
communication skill due to which my doubts has been remained unclear. As due to ineffective
communication skill I was not able to ask my doubts from my tutor and due to this many doubts
has been remained unclear and I have faced large number of issues while studying. Thus, in this
manner my ineffective communication skill has created barriers for me. However, in this session
I have learned it is so important to enhance communication skill as this directly leads to impact
the interaction level which helps in enhancing the character as well. My tutor has supported me
throughout the session. I have taken part in the group discussion and from there I have got the

confidence in terms of speaking. Thus, in this manner I got the opportunities in context of
developing communication skills in me.
Moving towards next skill which is team development, I have learned this skill as well
during this module. A group task has been assigned to me and my and my mates in which I was
leader. At initial stage everything went good however, after a certain period of time coordination
among the group members was decreasing on a high note. This was impacting the outcomes of
the task. When I analysed the scenario then, I got to know that, this was happening due to lack of
interest of the group members in the task that has been given to them. The roles and
responsibilities that has been given to the group members has not been given according to their
interest level and therefore, it created lack of coordination. Thus, here I realised that it is how
much important to look upon the interest level of the group members as this leads to create the
effective coordination among the members. Also, I realised that it is mandatory to discuss the
doubts and issues of the group members so, they can effectively share everything.
Ineffective time management was one of my biggest weakness. However, this session has
been proven effective enough in changing my this weakness into the strength. Earlier, I was not
able to complete my assignments on time and this was due to ineffective management of the
time. I got to know dividing the whole task into different part is highly important as this leads to
create the effective planning for the completion of task and as a result, the task has been
completed on accurate time. Thus, I have started parting my goal into different parts and for each
small task a fixed time period has been specified. Thus, in this manner each task has been
completed by me within fixed period of time and as a final result the major task has been
completed. Thus, in this manner effective time management skill has been acquired by me.
Decision making skills refers to the ability of taking most appropriate decision from the
available options (Aliu and Aigbavboa, 2021). I have learned that, how to take appropriate
decision when there are large number of options available to me. I got to know that it is
important to evaluate the positive and negative elements of each option and on the basis of that
most appropriate option needs to be taken which is consists of large number of benefits. Thus, in
this manner, effective decision-making ability has been acquired by me.
Thus, in this module I have acquired knowledge in relation of the mandatory skills that
are highly important to enhance the professionalism in an individual.

Specific workplace skill acquired by me
Workplace skill refers to those skills that are highly important to perform the workplace
task. This has been often known as employability skills which are required in order to become an
effective employee at the workplace. The major workplace and employability skill that has been
acquired by me during this session are-
Problem solving skill- This skill refers to the ability of knowing the cause of the problem
and solving the problem (Rahimjanovna, 2019). This skill is highly useful at the job place as this
leads to help in solving the issue within creating the solutions for the issue. I have acquired this
skill within solving the numerous problems that has been faced by me during the session. This
skill will help me in at my future job role. At workplace there are large number of challenges has
to be faced and therefore, it is highly important to possess problem solving skill as this will help
me to understand the major cause of the problems and along with this I will be able to solve the
of the major issues that will act as a barrier at the workplace.
The other workplace skill that has been acquired by me is leadership skill. This skill has
been determined as the ability of leading the people and guiding them in proper manner. Thus, in
this manner team unity can also been performed as an effective leader ensures effective team
management. I have acquired this skill while leading the team in a group task. In that particular
task I got to know that, a leader must understand the problems of the team members so, the team
members can effectively show their contribution. Thus, this skill will helps me at my future job
role as well. As an effective leader maintains team unity in effective manner that helps in
performing all the group task in efficient way.
The another employability skill that has been acquired by me is critical analysation skill.
This skill has been determined as the ability in terms of critically analysing specific topic
(Jhaver, Cranshaw and Counts, 2019). I have gained this skill while critically analysing the
topics of the assignments. This has improved my ability in relation of critically analysing the
attribute. At workplace there are different kinds of projects, and in order to know that which
project is highly effective, critical analysation skill is highly mandatory. Thus, with the help of
this skill I will be able to critically analyse the different elements at the workplace and on the
basis of that most appropriate decision will be taken.
Collaboration skill has been determined as the skill which enable an individual in terms
of cooperating with others. This skill is highly mandatory for me at my future job role. I want to

work in the field of business and management. Therefore, it is highly mandatory that I must
possess this skill. So, I can effectively collaborate at the workplace with each other. Thus, this
skill will be proven highly beneficial for me as this will enable me to have effective collaborative
ability in me.
Thus, all the above explained specific workplace skill have been acquired by me in this
session which is highly beneficial for me at my future job role as this will enable me to have
effective professional development which will lead to enhance my career as well.
Other skills that needs to be developed for future job role
There are certain skills that are needed to develop in me so, I can effectively perform my
task in my future job role. Those skills that are needed to be develop in me that are concerned
with the personal and professional development. Also, these skills will help me to grow from all
aspects. Thus, the major skill that are needed to develop in me are- Motivation skill, digital
skills, self management skills, monitoring skills and emotional intelligence skill.
I need to develop motivation skill in me as this will lead to enhance my motivation ability
towards the employees at the workplace. Therefore, it is highly important for me to develop this
skill. Motivation has been considered as vital element at the workplace as it works as the driving
source for the people at the workplace (Yenen, 2021). Therefore, I need to develop motivation
skill in me as it will enable me to motivate the people at the workplace.
Digital skill has been determined as the ability of knowing and performing digital task.
This skill is highly mandatory in the field of the business and management. Therefore, I will
need to develop this skill in me. I can effectively perform the task over digital platform which
will also enable me to guide my mates as well at the workplace. Technology has been considered
as one of the vital elements in the business organizations and therefore, it is highly mandatory
that these skills must be acquired by me so, I can effectively able to tackle the different kinds of
software at the workplace.
The another skill that has to be developed in me for my future job role is self-
management skill. This skill has been determined as the way in which a person tackle themselves
and manages themselves. Self-management is highly important as this enables the person in
terms of organizing themselves in efficient way. I need to develop this skill in me so, I can
effectively focus over self-management. If I am able to manage myself then, I can easily able to
manage other as well (Tkavashvili, 2021). The starting has to be done from myself in context of

managing myself. Thus, I will use this skill in organizing myself in proper way at the workplace
so, I can effectively manage the issues of other person as well.
Monitoring skill is the ability of monitoring the task at the workplace. This skill ensures
effective outcome as each attribute has been monitored at the workplace that helps in analysing
the errors in the task (Bosman and Fernhaber, 2021). I need to develop monitoring skill in me so,
I can effectively monitor the task at the workplace and I will be able to ensure effective
outcomes as well. The last skill that needs to be developed in me is emotional intelligence skill.
This skill refers to the management of self-emotions so, I can effectively manage my emotions
without creating negative reaction towards people at the workplace. Thus, in this manner I will
effectively manage my emotions towards other mates and employees.
Thus, all the above skills are highly mandatory in terms of developing my personal and
professional character at my workplace. In this manner, I will be able to guide my mates as well.
In context of developing these skills in me there is action plan has been prepared by me which
will help me to develop the skills that has been selected by me.

CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that, employability skills plays vital role in
the development of the students. Learning specific skills can lead to enhance the character of
students. It is highly important to become professional at the workplace as professional character
is consists of numerous kind of skills that are highly required at the workplace. The report has
shown that in the session certain skills such as, communication, decision making, time
management and so on skills has been acquired by me during this session. Furthermore, specific
skills such as, self-management, digital and motivation skills needs to be developed in me for my
future job role. Also, there is an action plan has been prepared in context of developing the skills
in me. Thus, my session has provided me effective opportunities in terms of developing me from
all aspects.
