Most of the project hat are executed has similar stages even the ones that are carried out in the industry of construction. The feasibility of a certain project is determined with the help of evaluation of a business case by project manager (Dartey-Baah, Amponsah-Tawiah & Debrah, 2018). A specific document which consists details of the initiation of the project or a project charter is prepared prior to the initial stages of the project. This particular assignment discusses regarding a specific issues that is faced by project managers in a particular project of construction, the mitigation factor for the problems is also presented in this assignment. Body Among the challenges that are faced by project manager, one has been chosen which includes workforce shortages. This problem might have dangerous impacts on the overall project. Recruitment of workforce is usually considered as a part of the activities that is carried out by the project manager (Finkel, 2015). According to various reports around 600,000 jobs had been reduced in few decades bin the industry of construction. There are numerous ways due to which the construction industry faced workforce shortages, one of the reason include the fact that people are scared of joining the construction industry. The recession as well as layoffs in this industry in this industry might lead to the loss of numerous skilled workers as well as professionals in the field of construction for a long time. One more reason include the fact that there are very less of focus on trades as well as vocational schools. There is a lack of emphasis on the trades in high school as well as college (Dartey-Baah, Amponsah-Tawiah & Debrah, 2018). Most of the young adults are
2WORKFORCE SHORTAGES usually guided towards traditional routes of university and do not consider learning as a trade, besides this the injuries caused in the trading industry might be severe and sometimes life threatening this as a result frightens the young generation from joining this field. One more reason include the safety concerns. Usually construction industry tend to recruit workers who are less trained or not enough skilled in order to staff the projects that they have in hand. In order to mitigate these risks, the industry should be able to demonstrate their value as a specific career for the workforce that is upcoming. There are numerous ways which construction industry could do. Reaching out at the young generation is one among those strategies. Construction industry should partner along with local schools that must be considered by various young adults as a particular career path which is worth pursuing (Finkel, 2015). This particular partnership would lead to numerous opportunities of appearing in the career events, provide seminars in the class rooms, and appear in the career connection website in the schools and some more benefits. With the help of visiting local schools as well as colleges, various firms of construction would be able to get the young adults think regarding their career in the construction industry would be able to attract numerous young adults who think regarding their career in the industry of construction even before they decide what they would do in their career path. In order to create workforce that is highly skilled, construction industry require to invest in various training for the employees (Dartey-Baah, Amponsah-Tawiah & Debrah, 2018). For doing this, construction industry must invest in the purpose of training for all the employees. For doing so, construction firms must have extensive training for all the new employees, training courses for refresher for employees of all level, programs for mentorship which would allow the high level workers for passing along their knowledge to the young generation even before they retire. Besides the training for skills, these firms must also use training from the occupational safety as well as health administration for training the new joiners for improving safety of workers in the site.
