INTRODUCTION
Workplace critical thinking is based on beliefs, attitudes, and value systems that is
adopted by an organisation and how they help to solve the problems in an organisation. Critical
Thinking is a valuable skills that is necessary and helps in enhancing creativity and team work in
the organisation. It is important for an organisation to have positive work culture as that has
impact on the working of employees. Due to Covid-19 there are various changes in working
pattern observed in business (Forster, 2017). It is the time when there are numerous challenges
faced by the employees and the organisation. In this report there is discussion related to Scoop
gelato. The work culture of the organisation is evaluated in this report. The organisation have
made various changes to deal with the challenges. In this report there is discussion related to
various management theories that help the organisations to deal with changes. As management is
essential function that will help a organisation to accomplish goals and objectives. With critical
thinking skills all these management theories will help in demonstrating good knowledge and
solution of problems. There are various important points that must always be considered by an
organisation. It is important to apply these theories in organisation so as to work effectively.
Covid-19 has caused various challenges for the organisations, so the measures that the
organisations can take are discussed in the end of this report.

About the organisation
Scoops Gelato is a famous organisation that deals in ice creams, desserts and has its
headquarters in Dublin. It is seen that the organisation believes in innovation and regularly
update the products and services that are provided to customer's. The organisation takes order for
parties as well. They have good customer satisfaction record. Along with that the employees of
the organisation are kept at priority (Blaschke, 2018). They take care that employees are always
motivated and work in such a manner that helps the company to achieve success. Their aim is to
take care of the customers and provide them quality products. It is seen that the company is able
to gain loyal customers due to their hard working employees.

Management theories can be defined as the collection of ideas that makes
recommendations related with the general rules and guidelines that a manager must follow in

organisation. It is seen that with critical thinking in workplace is good for solving the problems.
These theories recommend management strategies that encompasses numerous frameworks and
guidelines applied to modern workplace. These strategies generally suggests how the managers
of any organisation implement theses strategies in order to motivate talented workforce and
accomplishment of desired goals and objectives. These theories are chosen and applied to the
workplace as per their organisational culture and employees working in an organisation. Some of
the management theories were created centuries ago but are still effective and widely used in
modern workplace. Some of the significant theories beneficial at the workplace are:ď‚· Scientific management theory: This theory was propounded by the Frederick Taylor,
American mechanical engineer, was the earliest management theorist who gain
recognition in scientific management theory. He suggested that scientific methods must
be used in workplace as it helps in using critical thinking in order to perform task based
on his principles. As per his philosophy he laid emphasis that forcing people to work hard
would result in the productive work place, instead he recommended that simplifying task
for the employees leads to higher productivity (Hargett and et.al., 2017). Taylor,
recommended that leaders must assign the job responsibilities to employees as per their
potential, train them effectively and monitor their performance so that they are working
effectively. Initially there were no workplace rules and standardization in factories and

Fayol, who was senior executive and a mining engineer, developed this theory after

six functions such as forecast, plan, coordinate, command and control and on the basis of
which he developed fourteen main principles which reveals how leaders and managers
should manage, organise, engage and interact with the workforce (Forsgren and Byström,
2018). The suggested principles should not be rigid but must be applied appropriately as
per the leadership styles of manager or leaders. Some of the key principles suggested by
Henry Fayol are: Initiative, equity, scalar chain, remuneration of personnel, unity of
direction, division of work, discipline, unity of command, authority and responsibility;

employees at workplace and creation of effective management of an organisation. These theories
govern and regulate the working practices within an organisation so that employees works to

motivate the employees and make them work again. Their mind set is changed and the morale
has went down in this pandemic situation (Santos and et.al., 2018). Use of the theories and
principles will help to boost their confidence and enhance the productivity of organisation. In
relation to Scoops Gelato they are working in such a manner that helps to bring back the
motivation level of employees and achieve the assigned goals. Below is discussion related to the
theories in context of Scoops Gelato. It helps to understand the culture as well as post Covid
changes that will help in development of the organisation. Critical thinking helps an organisation
to understand the problem and than find solution of all the problems that are faced by the
organisation.
Principles of administrative management: By emphasising the employees the employers can
