1WORKPLACE HARASSMENT
The workplace harassment is the threatening or belittling behavior which is directed at an
individual worker or a group of workers. Recently, it has become a matter of interest for
the researchers because there are plenty of national news regarding this. It has gained
much attention because it is a part of the workplace management as a significant amount
of stress is associated with such behaviors in the workplace (Community.hrdaily.com).
Studies have found that the women are the maximum victims of workplace sexual
harassments. On the other hand harassments is based on racial, cultural discriminations
too. The government has now become serious about the harassment issue and a code of
conduct has been designed which are supposed to be abide by the members in any
organization in order to uproot such instances.
There have initiated many policies addressing the workplace harassment issues. The
organizations are now prioritizing the financial and mental wellness of the workers. They
have a separate department for sexual harassment reporting which takes positive action
towards such abuses. Moreover, women help desks are also there with modified and
advanced investigation systems. The new state and local laws favor the employee rights
and expect them to behave in a decent manner in the workplace and at social gatherings
(Peoplematters.in). These are designed to prevent sexual harassment issue on the
workplace and build a healthy environment to work at.
The changes has increased the responsibility and operations of the human resource
department and the HR manager as well. After companies have started entrusting the HR
associated for dealing with harassment cases, and the act of 2013, HR managers have
become an indispensable part of it (Szego ). Hence, they might face different challenges
