Define incident which make you work for this project
A worker has been reported to dropped equipment on his foot in school premises. The
worker enter in school laboratory and start picking up the equipments to clean and manage the
area equipped with heavy tools and instruments. The worker ends up to fall down the heavy
instrument on his foot and hurt himself extremely (Erduran and et. al., 2022).
Define the first response to the incident and service provided accordingly
Service provider's first respond to the incident by taking worker to the hospital for check
up of injuries and warned the school management to be more conscious and focused about such
incidents and take steps to avoid such accidents. School management is ordered to install
handling procedure chart in laboratory to assist and guide workers.
Describe the documentation which was framed and submitted under safe work practices
According to safe work practices; a report has been prepared on frequency of harmful
incidents by mentioning affect of accidents on physical health of workers. Then documents were
supposed to submitted to higher authorities of service management (Lyons, 2019).
How the incident has been followed-up and consulted
To take follow-up of the incident WHS provided financial support to family for expenses
of treatment and medicines for the worker.

Work health and safety (WHS) act of 2011, comes under this incident. The legislation has
been made to identify and control hazards. The section cover some guidelines which need to be
follow at workplace while dealing with equipments and instruments, and give description about
protective measures and procedures need to follow in order to control the emergency situation
(Newman, 2020).

Suitable policies and procedures relevant to incident are:
 Workers should be trained prior giving any work to handle instruments cautiously.
 Equipment operators should operate with all precautions

 Apply instructions for both operators and workers for proper handling.

There are many approaches that can be taken into consideration to decrease the
occurrence of incidents at workplace are:
 Install handling procedure chart in laboratory.
 Make strict orders to children to not enter into laboratory without permission.
 Install tools which help in handling and lifting of heavy instruments (Sheldon and et. al.,
2020).
Can installation of safety signs proved to be effective in reducing the occurrence of such
harmful incident
Safety sign boards/ posters can be used to restrict the entry of children at places where
any incident can occur. Make children read and learn caution and danger signs. Apply signs to
always check for power supply prior to touch or clean any instrument by workers.
Discuss some modified procedures to identify hazards effectively in response to incident
Hazard identification procedures can be changed by making worker aware about the
hazardous consequences they can suffer and guide them to operate tools cautiously. In order to
make changes:
 It is important to learn workers to identify hazards
 Make a pictorial poster for workers who are cannot read.
 Asses risk and make suitable changes.
Mention changes bring to workplace to control emergency situation in case of incidence
To control emergency situation in response to the incident at workplace, it is important to
provide first aid facility and should have emergency transport facilities.
Mention the contribution of injured person and WHS professional in developing and
implementing the changes
Injured person can contribute by share their experiences with their peers and warn others
to not repeat the action as well as help their peers by sharing information beneficial to cover up

from the incidence. WHS professional may contribute by warning people to reduce the risk of
injury (Simao and et. al., 2021)..

Stress and exhaustion at workplace can make an individual's body week which may
become a cause to incident at workplace. Or burden of completing task steadily may become a
reason.

Improvements in housekeeping practices includes the habit of performing safety practices
at workplace. By making improvements anyone can effectively reduce the risk of incident.
