characterize employees on a daily basis. As much as they may seem suspect, the human resource
managers should not be afraid since they are normal and not destructive at all to organizational
prospects. In essence, human resource managers should be looking for ways of making these
trends useful to the company (Kerow, 2018). The author discusses ideas like the gig economy. In
fact, the HR managers should not always consider hiring talent as new employees. This should
be a normal idea for them and they should aim at making them settle. Other concepts and trends
discussed are up-skilling the employees, and power to the people.
This journal is very important since it discusses various attributes of human resource
management that many people never even considered that they exist. These three ideas
characterize a normal workplace from day to day. As a result, if the human resource managers
can be fully aware of their existence and appreciate, then I am sure they will come up with better
ideas on how they can make the most of them (Kerow, 2018). For instance, the up-skilling idea
is very important for ambitious companies. In the context of the human resource management
function, the managers should find ways of motivating their employees to better their skills as
well as providing them with the means to do so. The aim of this undertaking should be to ensure
that employees fit into the latest demands as well as trends relative to their work since the labor
market is evolving at a very quick rate. As a result, the managers should pursue avenues to
enable them to train and better their skills.

The concept of power to the people is also very important since it enables companies to
know what to take up in the form of technology and innovativeness. The idea here is to have the
organizations firing in all cylinders regardless of the circumstances. Also to great extent, this has
to do with letting the employees make small decisions regarding their corporate obligations
(Kerow, 2018). The corporate world is evolving at a rapid pace meaning that organizations will
have to ensure that they are in sync with everything that is happening around them. Failure to
observe this will render them obsolete and they will slip further in the pecking order.
This article is very important in the context of modern day practice of the human resource
management function. It highlights some of the most observable but very important trends that
can be utilized to make companies prosperous. Here, the author mentions that some human
resource managers could be scared to see some of their staff indulging in such behaviors. But
apparently, they are not harmful in any way. Consequently, the more the managers realize these
elements and strategize on how to make the most of them the better. I feel that they will lead to a
better management of the function.
