In the article, “In digital age, handwriting is still important for long-term academic
success,” Brown (2018) explains that handwriting is truly a way to success. Specifically, Brown
claims that the earlier researchers have shown that 85% of the teachers at the elementary school
level do not give good grades to the students despite the quality of the answers that they have
written if their handwriting is not good. By drawing on the research works of the scholars like
Dr. Denise Donica, Dr. Peter Giroux and others he shows that handwriting is important for the
students to get good grades. As they say “structured handwriting instruction leads to improved
academic success and overall student self-esteem” (Brown, 2018). These ideas are important
because they shed light on the importance that handwriting plays within the academic success
acquired by the students or the individuals.

In the article, “The Importance of Handwriting in the Digital Age” Chassiakos (2017)
focuses on the importance of good handwriting in the digital age wherein the majority of the
communications are being undertaken through the usage of digital platforms. Specifically,
Chassiakos claims that the aspect of good handwriting had become important more than ever
since the majority of the things that the individuals read over the digital media are written in

good quality font types and thus it becomes a bit problematic for the individuals to read things if
they are not written in good handwriting. By drawing on American Academy of Pediatrics,
Chassiakos shows the children who suffer from the issue of poor handwriting in their elementary
school are likely to face issues related to the same in their higher education and thus a good
handwriting is essential for academic success. As they state, “Children who can write quickly
and legibly are more likely to demonstrate skills in expressing their thoughts through the written
word” (Chassiakos, 2017). Chassiakos’ point is that parents and also the teachers are required to
help the students to have a good handwriting since it directly influences the academic success
acquired by them. These ideas are important because they articulate for the need to develop good
handwriting in the digital age wherein the majority of the things that the individuals read are
written in good font styles.

neurosensory activity which is involved with the process of handwriting and how digitalization
had completely replaced this activity of the individuals. Specifically, cooper claims that this
helps the children to learn effectively the shapes of the different letters that they write and
thereby helps them to learn effectively. By drawing on the research work of Edouard Gentaz,
Cooper (2017) shows without undertaking the process of manually writing the different words,
the children would not be able to learn effectively. As they state, “Drawing each letter by hand
substantially improves subsequent recognition….” (Cooper, 2017). These ideas are important
because are important since they articulate the need for undertaking the process of manually

writing things through the usage of pencils or pens even in the age of digitalization wherein the
individuals do not have to so. In sum, the issue is that the human beings are hampering the
process of their own learning by depending extensively on the digital tools for writing.

completely lost the art of writing in a cursive style which in the earlier times was very popular.

2017). Hosie’s point is that despite the opportunity afforded by the different digital technologies
the individuals should not lose the art of writing things through the usage of pens and pencils.
These ideas are important because since the contemporary individuals are fast losing the skill od
writing through the usage of a pencil or a pen.

In the article, “The Importance of Good Handwriting,” the author argues that [pick one a
good handwriting is important both for the children and the adults since it helps them to write
and communicate effectively. Specifically, the article claims that the ability of the individuals to

communicate effectively or for that matter to cascade important messages depends greatly on the
quality of their handwriting. By drawing on the research work of the past scholars, the article
shows that even the people suffering from the different issues like dyslexia and others are being
able to read handwritten notes which is something that cannot do in case of digitally written
notes . As they state, “Handwriting activates the brain more than keyboarding because it involves

the article is that a good handwriting is important for the students to acquire adequate academic
success and also helps them significantly in the latter part of their lives as well. These ideas are
important because the majority of the educational institutions presently require the students to
submit electronically written assignments because of which the students are losing the art of
manually writing things.

Meadow (2020) argues that writing things helps the students to effectively understand the things
that they are writing which in turn facilitates the process of their learning. Specifically, Meadows
claims that the students have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the things that they
are writing which is something that they are not being able to do while writing through the usage
of digital mediums. By drawing on the research of Louise Spear-Swerling, Meadow (2020)
shows that the brain of the individual works effectively when they write things manually through
the usage of pen or pencil. As they state, “Learning the alphabet by interacting with each letter in
many different physical ways helps students imprint and retain the letters and the letter sounds”

mediums for writing things, the individuals need to inculcate the art of writing things through the

explains why the teachers and the parents need to teach the children how to write through the
usage of pens or pencils. Specifically, Spear-Swerling claims that this is likely to benefit
students significantly to get good grades especially the ones suffering from learning disabilities.
By drawing on the past researches, Spear-Swerling (2017) the teachers by teaching the students
to write manually can help them to overcome learning difficulties in the latter part of their lives.

In the article, “Does writing by hand still matter in the digital age?,” Swain (2018)
examines the importance of writing by hand in the present world of digitalization. Specifically,
Swain claims that the process of writing things by hand offers distinctive benefits to the
individuals which they do not get while writing things through the usage of digital mediums. By
drawing on the research work of the past scholars, Swain (2018) shows by losing the ability to
write by hand the individuals are hindering the process of their own learning. As they state,
“Technology is having an impact on children’s handwriting ability and because of this they are
losing the art of writing by hand” (Swain, 2018). Swain’s point is that since writing things by
hand helps the individuals to learn effectively so they should not lose this particular art. These
ideas are important because since the majority of the contemporary individuals are taking the
help of the digital mediums for writing things. In sum, the issue is the individuals need to reduce

article shows having a good handwriting even in the present times helps the students to get good

is not being much importance. In sum, the issue is despite the emergence of the different digital
mediums, the individuals should not lose the art of writing things by hand.
