Introduction
The age group of 14 to 19 years in the development phase of human psychology is identified as
the effective stage for learning essential attributes of life and society. The need for guiding
individuals within the age group is essential for the development of future population of the
country. It is essential for teachers, trainers and tutors to present an inclusive learning
environment for the students to ensure effective nurturing of their inquisitive minds (Fraser,
2016). The learning and teaching environment within the educational environment of the UK
requires the implementation of appropriate policies, special provisions for the particular age
group and educational policies that would encourage the development of education among the
people of the country.
The following study presents a detailed evaluation of the National Educational Policies and
authoritarian initiatives that encourage the growth and facilitation of education among the youth.
The study presents an overview of the provisions that are available in the educational framework
of the UK for 14 to 19 year old students that instigates their desire for gaining knowledge within
an inclusive learning environment. An appropriate evaluation of the role of teachers in providing
education to 14 and 19 year olds is performed in the study along with the development of better
teaching techniques relevant to fulfilling the learning needs of the students belonging to 14 and
19 years of age.

Task 1
Introduction
This report will focus on the different types of national policies and initiative that are required
for education of individuals of the age 14-19 years. Besides this, the report focuses on the
legislations that are used by the teachers during teaching the students belonging to the
aforementioned age group.
National policies and initiatives for the education of the 14–19 age range
Widening Participation
This is an important strategic priority that is applicable for higher education of individuals. The
Scottish government alongside the UK government with the inclusion of University of
Edinburgh looks to implement this strategy during the process of teaching individuals of the age
group of 14-19 years (successforall.org, 2019). There are certain areas of discrepancies in the
process of education. Widening Participation (WP) helps to reduce such discrepancies and allow
equal educational rights to the students.
Success for All
The Success for All Foundation was developed in the year 1987 in the United States. This
foundation aims to provide literacy programs to the students by reducing their chances of failure.
The organisation has helped many under-privileged students to gain education and helps them to
achieve reading levels precisely (qca.org.uk, 2019). As a result, students gain access to different
types of possibilities and opportunities to develop themselves as an individual.
Skills for Life Strategy
In order to improve the literacy of the adults in the United Kingdom, especially England, skill for
life was regarded, as a national strategy. Apart from improving adult literacy, it helped to
improve the numeracy skills of the individuals gaining higher education (gov.uk, 2019). The
implementation of the skill strategy was done mainly to increase the rates of adults and young
people that possess adequate skills.

14-19 age Curriculum (Curriculum 2000)
The Curriculum 2000 aimed to assist students to make choices of their subject at the age of 14-
19 years. The curriculum provided certain practical and academic skills that will help assist in
the career development of young individuals. According to the curriculum, the individuals have
to focus on their career and qualification for developing their skills and competencies. The
different sections of the curriculum help the individuals to receive vocational qualifications and
implement the same in their life.
Every Child Matters
Every Child Matters (ECM) is an initiative taken by the government of the United Kingdom,
especially for Wales and England and it was launched in the year 2003. The initiative was
mainly launched with the intention of providing equal opportunity and education to the
individuals, especially children (gov.uk, 2019). Besides this, the initiative was taken for fighting
poverty and reducing the level of discrimination amongst the individuals. As a result, it helped
every child to get equal opportunity in terms of educating itself.
Apprenticeship
This initiative was taken by the government of the United Kingdom to provide on-job-trainings
to the individuals. The training was mainly skill based and it helped the individual to gain access
to a wide variety of opportunity for getting jobs. It also provided educational support to
individuals that were in dire need of the same.
Meeting OFSTED school standards
Office for Standards in Education is one of the non-ministerial departments that were developed
by the government of the United Kingdom. The role of this department was to inspect the
standards for education in a range of different institutions. The schools in the UK should ensure
that they are meeting with the educational standards set by OFSTED, so that they can provide
proper qualifications to the students. Meeting the educational standards is important for ensuring
support to the students.
Addressing Needs for Social and Workforce Developments

It is the duty of the educational institutions to make sure that they are meeting with the needs of
the individuals in terms of helping them to become better individuals. The contribution of the
educational institutions to enhance the social development of children should be done in a better
way (legaldictionary.net, 2017). This will help them to make workforce developments and allow
contributions to the future.
Blended Learning Approaches
The blended learning is one of the most important approaches that help in combining online
materials for education and creates opportunities for interaction that is done in classroom
teaching. Due to execute blended learning approach in the right manner, it is important that both
the students and the teachers are physically present. The student has certain control over place,
time, and path.
Wolf Report
The Wolf Report is ideally a review of the different types of vocational training that has been
provided to individuals belonging to the age group of 14-19 years. Besides this, the report
analyses the different types of opportunities gained by individuals. Lastly, the report provides
suitable recommendations that assist in the individual development and growth.
Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
The PLTS framework is mainly used for describing the different types of skills and qualities
possessed by the individuals. The framework helps to understand the necessary skills that allow
the individuals to gain success in life. It helps to develop self-managers, reflective learners,
independent enquirers, and team workers.

National vocational qualifications
The NVQ or National Vocational Qualification is considered an important aspect that allows
individuals to know about the skills and competencies that they require for conducting a
particular job. In order to ensure that the role of the individual is being provided in the right
manner, it is important for the individuals to demonstrate their competency level with the same.

There are different subjects that NVQ offers, which allows individuals to gain support in
different sectors of business.
Work-based learning post
The use of work-based learning post is considered one of the most important educational
strategies that allow the individuals to gain work-experience in real life. The individuals are able
to apply their technical and academic skills, as it helps to develop their competencies in terms of
employability (vocationaltraining.org.uk, 2019). With the aid of such programs, the gap between
learning and doing can be easily bridged.
Equality and diversity
The terms equality and diversity is used mainly in the United Kingdom that helps to define
diversity, equality as well as human rights of the individuals. This allows the government of the
UK to make sure that they are being able to provide equal rights and opportunities in terms of
providing them education and qualifications. It helps to reduce the level of discrimination that
prevails in the society.
Equality Act 2010
The Equality Act 2010 strictly prohibits discrimination among the individuals and is applied to
all the educational institutes of UK. The teachers have to ensure that the students are treated
equally irrespective of their race, caste, religion, sex, religious beliefs, and customs. Lack of
equality can result in failure in maintaining a suitable decorum within the classrooms that shall
distract the attention of the students from the subject. Furthermore, this shall affect the mindsets
of the students that can result in loss of respect of the teacher (assets.publishing.service.gov.uk,
2019). The equality Act 2010 protects the rights of the students in the educational sector and
promotes the growth of suitable behaviour within the educational institutes.
Duty of care
The duty of care is considered a legal obligation that could be imposed on an individual for
conducting an act that could harm the integrity of others. As a result, the government of the UK

is able to keep the individuals under safe and secure environment. Therefore, the government
looks to act in favour of the individuals in the society.
Equipping our Teachers for the Future
It is important for the schools of the United Kingdom to provide quality lessons to the students.
However, it is also necessary for the government to take certain initiatives to provide learning
and training campaigns to the teachers. This will allow the teachers to develop their skills and
competencies while providing educational support to the individuals. Therefore, the teachers will
be able to enhance the quality of learning that they provide to the learners.
Conclusion
There are certain important policies and legislations that could be used in terms of providing
education to the students. This section of the study helps to understand the different types
policies and legislations that are implemented in the schools for educating students in the age
group of 14-19 years.
Reflective Journal
I as a business management teacher have to ensure that the teachings that are provided by me to
the students provide an inclusive learning to students. Despite of the fact that the theoretical
knowledge is extremely important for the students in order to gain a suitable knowledge based on
the subject. However, I ensure that I provide the students with an in-depth knowledge regarding
the subject through practical learning. I have several roles as well as responsibilities in the
process of providing knowledge to the students between 14 to 19 years age. Business
management has several theories, models, as well as concepts and some of them are extremely
complex to understand (Excellencegateway.org.uk 2019). Therefore, it is obligatory for me to
develop suitable communication with the students. This shall allow me to gain suitable
knowledge of their feelings towards the teachings that are provided by me. I have a discussing
way of teaching that emphasises on interaction with the students. This allows me to develop
suitable communication with the students. Apart from this, communicating with the students
allows me to gain their trust that shall allow me to gather their attraction even more on the
subject.

In addition to this, I have to makes sure that I encourage self as well as peer assessment along
with reflective practices related to business management. I have to ensure that I provide suitable
knowledge regarding various frameworks related to business management. Reflective practices
shall allow students to develop their knowledge from real life based scenarios. As per the
knowledge provided by Hessari and Hill (2017), knowledge gained from practical based
scenarios allows students to receive a more comprehensive knowledge than gathered from books,
journals, as well as articles. However, I have to make sure that the students received a detailed
comprehension from the books related to the theories, models, as well as concepts.
I have to provide the students with homework and assessments related to the subject in order to
ensure a continuous development. Furthermore, I shall receive suitable outcome in measuring the
learning of the students through surprise tests. I also have to ensure that rewards as well as
penalties are associated with the results of the test (Cordingley, 2015). This shall create a sense
of fear among the students regarding the test and eventually result in continuity of their studies
on a regular basis. Furthermore, the surprise tests shall allow me to make suitable arrangements
that are required for filling the loopholes or the knowledge gap of the students. Those who have
prepared themselves on a regular basis shall be getting suitable results whereas those who have
not shall be getting bad results and I have to ensure that their parents are informed regarding the
development of their ward.
Inside the premises of the educational institute, I have to make sure that I act as a guardian of the
students and provide guidance to them regarding not only the subject that is taught by me but
also regarding the ethics as well as regarding decorum that shall help them in their future careers.
Acting as Loco Parentis shall help me to guiding the students aged from 14 to 19 years towards a
proper ethical behaviour that shall further help them in developing the knowledge regarding the
business management. In order to ensure that the students are provided with a detailed
comprehension of the subject I have to ensure up-dating personal and professional practices
while dealing with young people. Acting as a guardian of the students, it is my sole responsibility
to maintain my ethical behaviour so that the young students can learn from me and I have to act
as a medium in shedding the light towards a shared vision.
The personal and professional skills while dealing with the young people has a direct impact on
my teaching style and guidance that I provide to the young students. Furthermore, I have

developed my appropriate learning and teaching strategies that shall help me in providing an
inclusive learning to the students. Since the different students has their own unique capability of
understanding the knowledge, I have to alter my teaching styles accordingly that shall allow
student to gain a detailed knowledge related to business management. Moreover, meeting the
Ofsted schools standards has allowed me to gain a detailed knowledge of the various aspects
related to teaching and learning (Wilkins and Antonopoulou 2018). This includes the ethical
behaviour that has to be maintained as well as the learning styles that are useful for providing the
children with knowledge while ensuring a proper care.
My primary focus has to be stationed in providing an inclusive knowledge to the students aged
between 14 to 19 years regarding business management. This particular adolescence period from
14 to 19 affects the behaviour of the young people highly and they undergo though several
hormonal changes that affect their attitude, personality, and physical strength. Therefore, I have
to ensure that the students do not conduct any mischievous behaviour within the classrooms as
this affects the entire atmosphere of teaching. However, taking a strict approach towards the
students shall make things worse whereas an approach too easy to manipulate can bring severe
ramifications on me. Therefore, I have to make sure that I develop a balanced approach that not
only emphasises on a strict supervision on the tasks related to the studies but also makes sure that
the students are open with me and share pieces of information related to studies. I have to make
sure that I develop suitable communication with the students that shall allow me to gain their
trusts that shall allow me to provide the detailed knowledge to the students related to business
management. I also have to make sure that the various types of my personal behaviour can have
significant impact on the mindsets of the students. Therefore, it is obligatory for me to apply the
learning from the Ofsted school standards that shall allow me to develop suitable communication
while maintaining my position as their tutor.
The need for maintaining appropriate behaviour within the learning environment of the learning
environment enables the students to recognise the need for discipline within the classroom. I
prefer to encourage the appropriate behaviour within the inclusive environment of the class
through encouraging inclusive behaviour and peer-supportive education. As a teacher of business
administration, I encourage communication among the students to enhance the learning culture
within the learning environment. The availability of up-dated personal skills in providing

education to students helped me in understanding their needs in a better way. I realised the
importance of developing a proper inclusive learning environment helped the participation of the
students in the learning environment of the school. I realised the essence of providing effective
education to students within the age group of 14 to 19 years encourage the development of their
emotional and analysing abilities within the learning abilities. In my opinion the efficacy of these
aspects within the learning environment, encourage the growth of the education paradigm in the
country. In accordance to the Ofsted school standards, I realised that the successful
implementation of educational reforms within the institution encourage the students to function
in an effective manner.
I believe it is the teachers’ duty to behave like a parent in the absence of the parental figure. The
tenets of ‘In loco parentis’ identifies with the statement that teachers need to act as mentors as
well as parents for the effective emotional growth and development of the student in the learning
environment. The presence of a pseudo-parent figure within the learning environment of the
classroom enables the student to perform better in their educational endeavours. The presence of
a parent figure within the learning environment encourages the students to develop better
relations with the teacher and enhances their way of communicating within the environment. I
have experienced in my teaching profession that the students perform better in the learning
environment as the presence of parental figure encourages the development of emotional
endeavours for the students within the age group of 14 to 19 years. The effectiveness of
following an authentic reflective practice within the learning environment of the educational
institution enables the teachers to identify own skills and any shortcomings of teaching pattern
that may require development for a better performance in the educational sector.
The need for reflective practice helped me to identify my skills that need to be improved for
providing the students with a better opportunity to enhance their learning behaviour. I recognised
through my role as a teacher in the learning environment that education would help the students
belonging to the age group of 14 to 19 years to develop better results in the learning
environment. The enhanced ability of the teachers that are developed through reflective practice
enhances their teaching ability, which fulfils the varied needs of learning of the students. I
believe the success of the teachers in providing effective education to the students is a result of
the type of teaching style the teacher acquires through the training period. In my scenario, I

received effective training regarding the ways students within the age group of 14 to 19 years
need to be treated as adults for them to behave like adults within any given situation and generate
an outcome from the educational system that encourages them to develop better skills.
I believe it is essential for the students to develop an effective idea regarding their future from
the age group of 14 to 19 years. It is the duty of the educational institution to provide the students
with the opportunity to identify the various areas of study. Multidisciplinary study in teaching
provides students with the opportunity to develop their choices of professional development in
the future.
