the job role of nursing it is essential to be well equipped with verbal and non verbal
communication strategies (Baik and Zierler, 2019). Present essay is being conducted to
determine the importance of effective communication and the reason why registered nurses need
communication along with consequences of ineffective communication. Along with this, three
effective verbal communication strategies that RN can use is also being discussed in essay.

As a frontline worker in healthcare it has been identified that registered nurses mainly relies
on communication on the all aspects of their job. With the help of strong written as well as
verbal communication they have ability to make improvements in health outcomes foster
relationship with co-workers, families and patients and overcome negative complex situations
(Choi, Jeon and Kim, 2020). With the help of having good communication skill registered nurses
can build trust with patience the reasons for which registered nurses need to communicate
effectively in healthcare. It also allow them to improve efficiency of the healthcare services that
they are providing enhance experience of patient and overcome stressful situation and bridge the
gap between patients and the services that they are providing. As per the view point of Nunnery,

nurses to focus on identify verbal and nonverbal clue. This is one of the most important form of
verbal communication strategy which help registered nurses observing body language and
gesture of patience and develop verbal communication with them by judging the circumstances
or situation. In addition to this speaking clearly and concisely is also one of the most effective
form of verbal communication strategy which helps nurses to have a positive self image. This
will help to develop trust positive self image will allow registered nurses to build confidence
(Rossini, 2021). This is a sign of mature medical professional. Thus from the above analysis it
has been identified that with the help of taking use of verbal communication strategies registered
nurses can not only conduct their roles and responsibilities in effective manner but can also
enhance efficiency of therapeutic nurse and can build patient relationship in a well-defined and
effective manner.
Effective form of communication is one the most important element and foundation of good
nursing care. It is essential for registered nurses to have honest form of nurse patient
communication inclusive of nonverbal communication verbal communication skills inclusive of
facial expression, body language, gestures and more (Philip, Woodward‐Kron and Manias,
2019). In order to being an effective registered nurse it is essential for an individual to improve
communication quality in order to maximise overall level of patient satisfaction. It has been
identified that non verbal communication behaviours plays important role in nursing in which it
is essential for registered nurse to be an actively in which it is essential for them to actively listen
the feelings content and intent of speaker and with analysing their behaviour and expression,
maintaining relationship, build trust and enhance patient satisfaction. With the help of managing
non verbal communication behaviour registered nurses can maintain trust and can provide
effective care to patient (Tuohy, 2019). It has been underlined that negligence of non verbal
communication impact nurses in adverse manner there are 2 non verbal communication
behaviours that could negatively impact effective communication. If registered nurses failed to
utilise them properly in this by not identifying or misinterpreting the facial expression or body
language of patient. Then it will lead nurses to make patients feel irritated or dissatisfied. In

addition to this it has been identified the other non verbal communication behaviour such as
active listening helps registered nurses to provide comfort to patients and listen to their feelings
during their care (Campbell, Scott and Wei, 2020). In this negligence of active listening is a form
of non verbal communication behaviour if nurses do not engage in this practice then it can
increase the satisfaction in patients or clients. Thus from the above analysis it has been identified
that it is essential for registered nurses to effectively analyse expression, facial expression and
other body language of patients and also be an active listener in order to overcome the negative
consequences.
CONCLUSION
Thus according to the above mentioned analysis, it has been identified that communication
plays important role for job role profession. However, especially in nursing field communication
plays important role as they are frontline workers in healthcare in which communication is
essential for all aspects in their jobs. It helps them to improve healthcare outcome foster
relationship and understand patient situation in a well defined and effective manner. From the
above analysis it has been identified that it is essential for registered nurses to have proper
understanding of verbal and non verbal communication in order to conduct their job roles and
responsibilities in an effective manner.
