Interpersonal skills and working effectively
Communication is an essential skill when it comes to group work.
Generally, communication involves assisting team members and updating
them on their roles and duties they are supposed to undertake. As a
group, we have social media platform such as messenger, Facebook and
WhatsApp that assist to facilitate effective communication in order to find
out what group members are intended to do in regard to the combined
group assignment. Despite communicating through social media
platforms, we usually meet physically more often at the university and
discuss face to face each individual role towards completion of the
assignment. Generally, it was challenging to combine ideas of how to
have some open discussions between the group and how to run the group
effectively although we managed to come up with a combined solution.
Group members showed a positive attitude towards a group working
process as it effectively created the assignment plan and encouraged
each other to adhere to group policies. Furthermore, we trusted our
strong positive relationship, trusted each other with his or her roles and
responsibilities and by the end we had no issue at all when carrying out
our tasks and duties. With all team members being good listeners when it
comes to team performance, we created a room for members to
contribute their ideas, we selected the best ideas from members and
finally had a group decision making an agreement.
Values

third-year student studying business program. She has a nice character

she sees value to all team members regardless of religion, ethnic, race
and gender.
Member C and B are Thai people. Their characters are kind and
amiable as they never offend other group members. Both member C and
B are in their second year at the university studying a program in Sports
management. In high school, member C and B used to study sports and
therefore they end up developing an interest in athlete development. Just
like group member A, both member C and B are also respective to
diversity for group members as they are friendly to everyone and
understand them instead of confronting. For example, when making a
decision of who is going to present the introduction, we all have a group
decision and give a chance to a member who feels comfortable with the
decision. We never force a member to do what he or she feels not
satisfied or comfortable with.
In my group, all team members showed respect to the group
decision and my ideas. Furthermore, members were very supportive as
they assisted me to feel relaxed and comfortable when I faced a challenge
of pronouncing words correctly.
Leveraging Group member skills
On my own view, I can conclude that group members have skills and capabilities that
enhance group performances. In my group, we walked through the assignment together as a
team before we made a decision of dividing diverse parts to different team members. In
addition, we created and developed a way of sharing information and get it updated to us.
This acted as an example of how we are leveraging the strengths of group members before we
start filming. We communicated with each group member and further asked questions which
were related to the film. Some questions such as who will be comfortable with recording,
who will edit the video, worked out great and provided a good updated on the work progress.
Member B and C were recording and editing the film from the start to the end while I was
doing the video edit. On the other side, member A was checking mistakes in the content for
quality assurance and further communicating to the entire group on the updates and progress
of the work.

Conflict Solution

Resolving conflicts requires patience and tolerance in a situation where a group work
goes beyond the mark of health differences of opinions. People experience conflicts in
actions, perceptions and emotions. We experience conflicts at all the three levels and needed
to have an urgent solution for it. In order to solve the conflict, we were supposed to replace
negative experiences with positive ones. Furthermore, having an effective resolution plan
before the beginning of doing our roles was one of the best methods we used to handle
conflict. However, there are a variety of methods that can also be used to resolve conflicts.
Firstly, dealing with conflict at early stages when they arise before they get worse can solve
conflicts significantly. In addition, group members should not engage themselves in character
assassination or blaming each other as it fuels conflicts and poor relationships. The conflict
needed to be confronted like something with can be solved and finally, the group should
brainstorm their ideas to come up with solutions.
Equity
Firstly, we conducted a group meeting in order to have a brief discussion
on which part needs to be prioritized. We were able to combine ideas
about the video we should speak in three segments consisting of
introduction, body and conclusion. In the progress of the workgroup, we
contributed some ideas and content that will be on the speaking part as
well as presentation. Furthermore, we were able to divide work into four
sections with each member mandated to create an attractive presentation
as well as writing the script. In terms of roles, member C and B had the
role of recording, posturing and directing the control image. In addition,
member A also had a role of maintaining the group’s quality like checking
mistakes in the content which was not in order and updating the group
about the progress. Finally, my role was to do video editing once member
C and B finished their roles of recording. I find it interested to work as a
team as we developed and produced video and ensured no team
members were stressed with his or her roles.
Time Management
To effectively manage time, we had some strategies in place to discuss
the assignment which had short time for planning before the beginning of

Firstly, we allocated 10 to 15 minutes during the class breaks to discuss
briefly the work progress and completing the parts of each member. In
addition, during the breaks, we also discussed on the kind and colour of
clothes to wear when recording the video. We also had time for discussion
prior to video recording. After all, we found that every member was
satisfied with managing their own parts for a group. Working effectively as
a team, we were able to develop, monitor as well as revise on the
timeline. Generally, the group did time management excellently, prepared
and updated any changes resulting from various activities of the group.
Personally, I can conclude that the first consideration of enhancing
performance as well as the achievement of set goals is through group
work.
