Exercise 1
Answer 1: Key characteristics of 5G wireless
5G is the next generation telecom network that launched in 2018 and now continues to
expand worldwide. The major characteristics of the 5G wireless network are provided
internet speed up to 10Gbpps and chance to more improvement. 1000 multiple bandwidth per
unit area, 100% coverage and 90% reduction in the usage of network energy.
1. What is its throughput
A highly dependent situation on which the 5G network is used is called as throughput. The
throughput depends on the distance with the base-station as the client device is close to base-
station than it achieves higher throughput that is up to 10s of Gbit/s. but in another case, the
device is not so close to the base station, in that case, throughput will not be achieved.
2. What spectrum does 5G use
The current spectrum of the 5G is different than the previous generation of the telecom
industry. The previous spectrum of the 4G network is up to 24Ghz and the current spectrum
of 5G is from 24 to 86 GHz. This range was found in the testing of the 5G network and the
wavelength of the 5G are from 12.5 mm to 3.5 mm.
3. How do the aerials use?
Aerials are used to determine the wavelength that receives by the devices. Normally each
device uses one aerial and it can use a various range of frequencies and operate them. Use
multi-aerial in one device also need to connect with the device that uses a single aerial. Aerial
is just half of the wavelength, for example, if the wavelength is 13 mm than the aerial will be
half of this. The aerial of 5G can be more complex compared to 3G and 4G but it is small
than others.
4. Can 5G be used with satellites
5G can be used with the satellites with following some principles and the satellites would be
satellite of low-orbit because it is required to maintain a distance between the satellite and the
device that would be less than to the satellite of geostationary (Wei, L., Hu, R.Q., Qian, Y.
and Wu, G., 2014).
Answer 2: when is 5G likely to be deployed in Australia?
Testing of 5G already started in Australia with following different experiments and there is a
chance of the deployment of 5G after 2020 in Australia.

Answer 3: Under what circumstances can 5G
Currently, a 4G network providing the good speed of internet access in Australia but it is the
truth that the 5G will provide better internet access compared to 4G. The installation of 5G
will change the economic criteria but it would be the same as the 4G after the normal use of
internet access.
Answer 4: What types of services
5G will provide better internet access to the users along with some non-human activities like
sensors in vehicles or other devices for tracking, use in cars, used in drones, in robot devices.
Some other services like high-quality videos provide with high speed and deliver good
connectivity, enhance mobile bandwidth also provide with using the 5G services (Bangerter,
B., Talwar, S., Arefi, R. and Stewart, K., 2014).

Exercise 3
Answer 1: What is net neutrality?
Net neutrality or the network neutrality is the principles that are required to follow by the all
ISPs (internet service provider) to treat equally for the communication and other user-based
charges like, content, application, website and more. In some cases where the principle not
applies or appear, but users should be treats in the same way (Krämer, J., Wiewiorra, L. and
Weinhardt, C., 2013).
Answer 2: Is net neutrality an accepted principle
Net neutrality is accepted mostly all over the worlds by their local government to provide
internet services to the users with the same charges. Here discuss the net neutrality of the US,
Australia and Europe as below:
In the United States:
Net neutrality accepted in some states of united states and for the other states, it has been it
will be going to implement as soon. But for now, the current condition or situation is unclear
in the United States.
In Australia:
Net neutrality not applied anywhere in Australia as well as not standards and rules create for
discussing the net-neutrality.
In Europe:
All the internet operators of Europe adopted the rules and standards of the net neutrality for
the user’s benefits. European commission also set some regulations that are mandatory to
follow by internet providers.
Answer 3: What are the arguments?
The basic concept to apply net neutrality on the internet service provider is that the services
should be fair for each user. That is the single argument that used to concern about the net-
neutrality.
Answer 4: Does the use of DiffServ to provide
DiffServ or the different services is a computer architecture that uses a simple mechanism to
manage the network traffic and provide quality services to the users. It is a QoS model that
host the signals of a network. This term is used to apply when different users use different

DSCP values without any previous agreement. In case the DSCP values are transparent for
internet users than it would not break the rules of net neutrality (Flegkas, P., Trimintzios, P.
and Pavlou, G., 2002).
