Exercise1
1. Key characteristics of 5G wireless
What is its throughput, and how does this depend on distance?
For any wireless connectivity distance matters and so of course for 5G Wireless connectivity
distance is matter in throughput. Means if a 5G enabled wireless device will near to its base
station, then its throughput gets maximum. As per research, it is recorded that if a 5G wireless
will be located nearer 30 to 6MBit per second. Means if a device is located near to any base
station, then average throughput of 5G wireless could be 80 to 634MBit per second. In
Manhattan, a 5G wireless throughput in the sub-6 bands could be even more with support of
using a low-level spectrum.
Spectrum used in 5G and difference from 3G and 4G
In 3G or 4G, the best quality of spectrum has been used on their time for better connectivity and
far to provide best throughput. But there is some case also where the service providers use low
quality of spectrum which means lower latency and lower bandwidth. So, to increase the
throughput of a wireless enabled device best and large amount of advanced 5G NR spectrum are
used. The other spectrum is SFP which also increases the throughput of 5G wireless connectivity
by increasing the waves and make this super flexible. The class of spectrum for 5G and 4G
would be same in some specific scenario because both provide better throughput wirelessly. 5G
network has higher frequency which ranges from 24GHz to 86 GHz. The spectrum that is used in
5G wireless connection having special wavelength criteria of 3.5mm-12.5mm.
How do the aerials used in 5G differ from 3G and 4G, and how aerial affect its
performance?
5G aerial is possibly small in size and high gain capabilities compare to 4G and 3G and so it has
most advanced scanning technology to perform well even at lower range of wave frequencies. A
5G aerial has can produce high throughput, and the problem of low bandwidth gets reduced also.
The base station aerial becomes an array of multi-element with use of a high amount of MIMO.
A device that is 5G would consist multiple aerials connected by the device aerial as a single
aerial. It is clear that even the smaller device could also consist of a number of aerials. Aerial is

designed and included in the 5G wireless devices with a defined wavelength. In the end, it is also
clear that design structure of 5G aerials is very complicated and much tricky than 4G or 3G
aerials with very small size.
Can 5G be used with satellites
Satellite plays a significant role in providing wireless connecion and sharing of information, but
in orbit, it is not clear about the response of 5G. But yes, possibly a 5G wireless connection
could be used with the satellite in orbit, but the more important thing to remember is there should
be enough amount of wireless-enabled satellites with low distance in compare to Geo Stationary
Base stations.
2. 5G deployment in Australia
In a current research report, an Australian Telecom service provider detailed about
implementation of 5G wireless connection, as it will be implemented by second half of 2020, but
the other experts say that the implementation of 5G will take possibly 2021 and if the
implementation will be done then it would be in some specific regions.
3. Under what circumstances can 5G wireless to provide domestic Internet access?
5G wireless can be provided to the domestic use with enabling feature of Wi-Fi in metro area of
Australia. 5G WI-Fi is actually a new kind wireless connectivity that allows users to get access
like existed Wi-Fi system. Reliable network and easy accessibility would boost economic growth
of individuals and the whole country.
4 Types of services other than Internet access is 5G intended to provide
5G Wireless connection and network technology have been evolved to provide best quality of
service in multiple areas. It is not limited to providing internet access to the people but also
allows designing sensors, robots, automated charter plane and car.

Exercise 3
1. What is net neutrality?
It is also called network neutrality, is a specific principle by which a government and the ISP
means internet services provider could not be able to apply restrictions on sharing and
transmission of information. There is a different type of information which has been shared by
the user like messages, document and media files. In more common term, net neutrality principle
prevents the restrictions that are implied on platform, method of communications and etc.
2. Is net neutrality an accepted
In the United States
Yes, but in some states only. The government of United States accepts net neutrality principle for
certain states and notably will consider for others states.
In Australia
Australia is a country which follows United States for the matter of net neutrality, and still, yet
net neutrality didn’t imply. But there are some internet service providers who imply a policy of
United States and offer net neutrality services in Australia.
In Europe
The European government has been adopted rules and regulations for net neutrality and enforces
internet service providers to apply this rule in providing internet service providing.
3. Arguments for and against net neutrality?
In terms of net neutrality, there should be freedom to use internet for a different platform, and
multiple purposes and argument for that is more reasonable in between internet service users and
internet service providers. So the local government should also involve in this argument to
provide the feature of net neutrality.
4. Does the use of DiffServ to provide different quality of service for different traffic
potentially contravene net neutrality?
4
Document Page
Yes, the use of DiffServ to provide the different services for various traffic potentially
contravene net neutrality. It could be possible when a different type of user uses a different type
of DSCP values in different traffic.
