Introduction
• The increase in the traffic of internet data
demands the increase in the capacity of
existing 3G or 4G wireless technologies.
• Three major emerging services of 5G
• Massive number of connected devices,
• Very high link reliability
• Low latency and real-time operation.

Brief discussion on full-Duplex in PCS
• A half-duplex: Simultaneous transmission and reception
cannot take place in this mode of communication.
• A full-duplex: Allows the connected devices to communicate
with each other at the same time.
• Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) system two different
frequency bands are used to transmit and receive signal.
• Time Division Duplex (TDD) uses splitting the transmission and
reception channels.

Challenges of full-duplex in 5G
• Separation of up-linking and down-linking in a
channel is required.
• The cancellation of self-transmitted signal can be
done majorly at three levels:
• Antenna level
• Analog circuits’ level
• Digital baseband level

Proposed solution towards 5G
• Conventional wireless communication technique
such as Radio Frequency (RF) has become
saturated to fulfil all the desired needs.
• Should have improved energy efficiency for each
spectral efficiency point.
• To shift from the cell-centric thinking towards soft
user.
• By introducing the concept of invisible base
stations.
