Compassion
Nurses are expected to have compassionate for
the nurse to treat patients with a compassion and
positive experience. As mentioned by NMBA
(2018) compassionate nurses are able to
empathize with their patients and offer
considerate treatment every time. When they do
this, they are motivated and get a sense of human
connection from their work.
Competence
Nurses are as also expected to show competence
in their work (NMBA, 2018). They have to arrive
at work on time and without being absent.
According to International Council of Nurses
(2012) the nurse should as well maintain
professional approach and show high standard of
excellence when completing their daily work
irrespective of the conduct of others.
Confidence
As recommended by Roach & Roach (2002)
nurses should also be confident in what they are
doing and show it in their personal skills and
knowledge. A nurses needs to show conscience,
be consistent, behavior in a competent way and
show compassion though they be working in
demanding environment.
Conscience
The nurse has to deliver the highest standard of care to
patients, and this entails resilient and moral responsibility.
Being conscience assists the nurses to make the right
decisions. The International Council of Nurses (2012) adds
that nurses need to represent concerns held by patients, and
the nurse also needs to focus on empathy and understanding
the feeling of the patient.
Commitment
Nurses need to be committed to the patient all the time
(Roach & Roach, 2002). They have to go beyond the
expectation of the patient and show strong values, and seek
to improve their skills.
Comportment
This is the way nurses presents themselves to others in
relation to their attitude, behavior, dressing, and language
(Roach & Roach, 2002). This presentation needs to show a
caring appearance and responsibility.
