2THE 7 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE
Part 2A
Response to question no. 1
Describe what Covey means by “beginning with the end in mind.” Give an example from a
current issue in your life in which this habit would be useful
In the book “The 7 habits of highly effective people” Covey has mentioned several
habits that transform a person into being successful in life. The 2nd habit that Covey refers to
in the book talk about visualizing the end result of an action and working on it relentlessly to
achieve the goal. The author states that once the end is visualized, the value of time is
realized easily. A proper planning can also be done once the end can be imagined. This is in
fact the reverse process of achieving goals. The author says that if one is able to visual the
final day of One’s life, one will understand the real aim of an individual’s life. Death being
the ultimate destination of all, it is death alone that defines the value of our lives. It is only
after death that people around us define us in the closest similarity. The necessity to visualize
death will allow us to identify our real values that we want to add as a person. By visualizing
the end we understand that we have limited time to add values to life and removes confusion
from within. This enables an individual to be more focused and effective in delivering and
thereby adding value to our lives (Covey, 2016).
By inculcating this habit in my life, I would be able to create effective results in
achieving my dreams. I would like to inspire people around me through my life achievements
and visualizing the end would instigate me to follow my passion, rather than restricting
myself for the social stigma. This habit will allow me to see the greater truth and motivate me
to follow my passion.
Part 2B
Response to question no. 1
“What one activity could you do (that you aren’t doing now) that if you did on a regular basis
(and did it superbly well) would have significant positive results in your personal life?”
The effectiveness in managing oneself brings the best in an individual. The habit of
prioritizing the necessities and acting upon them eliminates the matters that have the least
concern yet restrict in achieving the goals. Putting the right things that matter on top of our
priority list ensures easy achievement of our goals by getting rid of the unnecessary
attachments that bind us back.
An activity that I could do in my personal life is maintaining a healthy life with
regular fitness schedule. I could swim for 45 minutes daily and could easily manage time for

the same. This would release my stress levels and allow me to be healthy and fit would
enhance my productivity in my personal life. This activity is a priority, since health is the
actual wealth and has the highest priority in our lives. This is a top priority and putting it first
would enable me to perform in my circle of interest. This would change my overall reaction
to life and other stresses (Covey, 2014).
