1PERSONAL HABIT
"TO BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND" means to visualize the outcome before an action or
activity is executed. It is aimed at providing a strategic direction to the planning and this help in
executing the plan effectively and achieving the desired outcome from the activity (Carden &
Wood, 2018). It is one of the seven habits that highly successful people integrate with their
character, which helps them to deal with various issues, which might be personal, professional,
or related to their business and professional goals (Covey, 2013).
However, people who do not have this attitude often lacks planning, vision, and they are not
successful in executing their planning and achieving the goals that they decide to achieve (Wang
& Rehman, 2017).
I belong to this kind of people and this makes my plan to learn new things less effective. Often I
start learning new things but without any vision and plan about the possible outcomes, that I
want to achieve at the end and this is the reason that most of the time I leave the learning process
without learning that thing completely. The particular reason for this is that I have no clear idea
about why I am learning this thing, why learning this skill is important for me, what will I do
with that skill and where I am going to apply that and for what purpose.
Hence, it is important to start any activity with the end in mind as it provides clear guidance and
inspiration for doing that thing and that too with perfection (Li, Frohna & Bostwick, 2017).
