What is the main thesis of
the paper
To expand the evidence support for recommending to global
system related to health about the strength and operational
challenges of the Optimize MNH ("WHO | Optimizing health
worker roles for maternal and newborn health", 2019). It
describes the use of a number of novel strategies to add more
evidence during the development and application of the
Optimize MNH guidance.
What are the main
findings of the work?
1. Plenty of evidence given in the report has provided valid
information whether interventions are feasibile and
acceptable and also information about key implementation
considerations.
2. The GRADECERQual approach can indicate to WHO
panel members the degree of confidence they can have in the
findings derived from the syntheses of qualitative evidence..
3. The DECIDE framework gives a structured format which
can be used to present a complex set of evidence to both the
panel members and end users. The approach also supports the
panel members to place their recommendations with records
of their decisions for use by end users.
How are you assured of
accuracy within the paper
The first model was used in different countries in Asia and
Africa and the results were encouraging. The second model
was reviewed and recommended in parts by the WHO panel
members The DECIDE model is innovative and is used for
making specific recommendations out of a large number of
recommendations (128) of OptimizeMNH. The acceptability
is proof of accuracy.

Yes, the findings can be generalized to be used for the wider
community as they have been already applied at different
places in Asia and Africa and the results are encouraging.

disagree with in the paper.
I agree with the findings on OptimizeMNH of WHO. The
WHO model was not effective for qualitative findings. The
enhancement in the form of GRADECERQual is innovative
and the DECIDE model is also useful for recommendations to
panel members. However, there are two major challenges
which should be taken care, (1)to ensure that for quality,
independent evaluation, monitoring and feedback should be
made available (2) to design guidelines and develop processes
that can capture, analyse, adapt and apply evidence and
communicate recommendation for use in different health
systems and health interventions. (Gopinathan & Hoffman,
2018)
How useful (or not) was
the paper and why have
you reached this
conclusion?
The paper is very useful because I am able to know in detail
about OptimizeMNH of WHO. Moreover, the enhancements
to be a model is vivid with illustrations.
