1. Introduction:
Abc.org is a company that belongs to the field of business consisting of three main
departments that work within the organization on a daily basis. The three main working
departments are HR, Finance and Users. In regards to the existing network, each of the
department has a dedicated file server (Denstad et al. 2019). Along with this, a presence of
three primary servers is accessible by all the departments of the company namely, Web, DNS
and Email. Each of the servers provision the three departments with the required amount of
connectivity. However, the network consist of some issues such as limited users provisioned
with the capability to connect to the network. Hence, this network that belongs to the
company is to be redesigned having the inclusion of some primary objectives such as
multiple users functionality, access control preventing inter-departmental communication
along with file servers that are dedicated to departments respectively. In addition to this, the
network will be redesigned following the star topology that will consist of a main router
providing the required amount of connection to all the other existing departments within the
company (Deng et al. 2019). Lastly, the network is to be tested and checked if the access
control policies have been properly implemented to isolate the departments from each other.

primary responsibility of establishing a connection between the various types of
network components that are present within a specific model for network (Zhao et
al. 2018). OSI primarily stands for, Open System Interconnection that gets the
name from the fact that this particular model of network carries the potential
ability to fit anywhere inside a network and carry out the relative functionalities
with in an efficient manner.
ii) TCP/IP Model- this particular model for the network had been developed prior to
the existing OSI model that has the primary inclusion of five important layers
such as the likes of Application, Transport, Network, Data Link and that of
Physical layer. The first primary four layers that has a shared existence within this
particular network model put forward the physical standards, internetworking,
transport functions as well as network related interface (Huang and Cai 2018).
These four functions have the correspondence to the first primary layers of the
OSI Model. However, all of these four layers within the TCP model is represented
singe-handedly with the help of the Application layer that exists. Lastly, the TCP
protocol refers to a hierarchical model consisting of interactive modules present
within the same provisioning each of them with differently existing special
functionalities to perform when added to a specific network for establishing a
secure communication of data.

Router:
Routers refer to the devices of networking that re specifically used for the purpose of
forwarding packets of data between the existing network of computers. All the routers carry
out the primary activity of performing the functionalities of directing the traffic through the
internet such as the likes of an email or might as well be a web page forming data packets
(Quack et al. 2018). A particular packet is forwarded from a single router to that of any other
router through a series of networks together giving rise to an internetwork.
Switch:
A network switch refers to a particular hardware used within the field of networking
that specifically connects the variously existing devices attached to the network of a
computer with the proper usage of packet switching for the receiving as well as forwarding of
data to the device that is present at the destination location. The switch can also be typically
referred to as a network bridge that makes use of MAC addresses for the responsibility of
forwarding the data present at the data link layer belonging to the OSI model (Tsmots et al.
2017). Some of the switches that exist within the networking field also have the potential
ability to forward packets of data to the network layer by an additional incorporation of the
functionality related to routing. Such switches that carry out this special activity are usually
termed as layer-3 switches or might as well be known as multi-layer switches.

usually referred to as the client-server relationship. Servers that are connected to a network
can put forward with multiple functionalities or services to the other connected devices that
are specifically used by the hosts (Er and Pal 2017). An individual server can carry out the
activity of serving multiple clients as well as an individual client can enjoy services from
multiply existing servers connected to a single network. In addition to this, the particular
service offered by a server can be run by the client on the same device or on some other
device that belongs to a completely different network.
Connecting wires:
These are the cables that are commonly used to connect the various devices or
components present within a network for establishing a wired connection among the same
and allowing them with the provision to carry out communication of data through the same
respective network. Such wires have the primary responsibility of connecting and allowing
the packets of data to be transferred from the source device to the destination device without
having a real interference from any other device that exists within the network.
3. Description of network technologies:
There is the shared existence of a number of network technologies that belong to the
field of networking and data communication methods. Some of the common types of network
technologies are the likes of,

work of a physical object by recreating as well as altering with the help of an
additional logic that work within the network frames along with the tag belonging
to systems of networking creating the appearance as well as functionality of the
traffic that occurs within a particular network.
ii) Trunking- within the field of networking and telecommunications, trunking refers
to a specific method that directs to a system for the provisioning of network access
to multiply exiting clients by the help of sharing a collective set of lines or might
as well be frequencies keeping aside the act of provisioning the same on an
individual basis. This particular methodology is analogous to that of a structure
belonging to a tree having the inclusion of a number of branches.
iii) Access control- in regards to the field of physical security as well as information
security, access control refers to the act of having placed a selective restriction in
terms of access to a place or might as well be any existing resource (Bankston and
Guo 2018). Access management refers to the particular activity of the process of
placing an access control over the places or the resources within a specific
network. In reference to this act, the activity might refer to the process of entering,
utilizing or might as well be consuming of any resource.
iv) DHCP- refers to a management protocol for a network utilized particularly on an
internet protocol and relative networks in which the DHCP server dynamically
allocates IP address along with other existing network parameters for the purpose
of configuration to each individual device that is connected to the respective
network. With the help of this particular activity, the hosts are provisioned with
the allowance to carry out data communication with the other existing IP networks

The company named abc.org already was in possession of a working network that
served the primary objectives allowing the company to carry out data communication on a
regular basis throughout the organization and make business (Lima et al. 2017). However, the
company had been identified to be having the inclusion of some disadvantages that needed to
be removed and the network was supposed to be redesigned.
Primarily, the company consists of three main departments, which are the likes of HR,
Finance and the users. Each of the department has fixed number of employees but the new
network design only had to be built to allow multiple users to get connected to the network.
In here, the redesigned network consists of a main router that is connected to all the
servers namely the likes of Web server, Email Server and the DNS Server. The web server
will provision the entire network and the end users with the ability to connect to the internet
(Wang et al. 2017). The Email Server will allow the users to access their emails and share
important information across the entire organization and the DNS server will provide the
devices that are connected to the network to try to get connected with required IP addresses.
The main router connects to three switches where each of the switch belongs to the
three departments individually. One switch is placed at the HR department, one at the finance
and the other one at the User department. Each of the switch has number of workstations that
gets connected to the main router and in turn, to the servers through the switches.
The HR department consists of 3 workstations, the Finance department is in
possession of 7 workstations and the lastly, the user department has 2 workstations to be
exact. In addition to this, there is the existence of a file server in each of the departments that
is dedicated to that specific department (Ma, Song and Li 2017). The file servers are used by
the employees of respective departments for storing and maintaining of files that relates to the
business proceedings on a daily basis.

Each of the department that exists within the network carries out different work for
the company regularly that has no relation with the work carried out on the other
departments. Hence, the network has been provisioned with Access Control Policies that
prevents any other department to access the data of a specific department maintaining the
security and integrity of every individual department (Saad, Khan and Mahmood 2018).
Hence, each of the departments have access to the three servers and the dedicated file server
but not to the other workstations of the other existing departments.
