Homework Assignment
AI Summary
This assignment delves into the potential causes of abdominal pain and painful urination, exploring a range of medical conditions. It begins by highlighting the abdomen's role and vulnerability to dysfunction, leading to pain and discomfort. The assignment then systematically outlines various potential causes, including Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), Prostatitis, Chlamydia infection, Genital herpes, Systemic gonococcal infection, Kidney stones, Bladder cancer (including its different types), Endometrial cancer, Urethritis, and Epididymitis. Each condition is described with its specific characteristics and potential impact. The conclusion suggests that kidney stones could be the cause of the pain, emphasizing the importance of understanding the underlying factors. The assignment includes references to relevant books and journals to support its information.

Question 1
Abdomen can be termed as home for many body organs and they are responsible for
digestion and urination. These all organs are very prone to dysfunction and infection, which can
lead to abdominal pain and painful urination. Major results of abdominal pain can be so severe
that it can be burning to cramping. It can be caused by due to less eating, or some infection or
even anxiety (Berry, 2018).
Possible causes of abdominal pain and painful urination are described as follows:
Urinary Tract Infection (UTI): This infection can infect any part of the urinary tract.
Bacteria are causing the majority part of the UTI’s.
Prostatitis: Prostatitis is inflammation of your prostate gland. The inflammation may
spread to the area around your prostate.
Chlamydia infection: It is a very common disease that is transmitted on sexual
interaction and the main cause is bacterial infection. People who are infected by the kind
of infection are not having outward symptoms in the early stages of infections.
Genital herpes: It is a sexually transmitted disease. It can cause herpetic sores, which are
painful blisters. These blisters are fluid filled bumps that can also open broke and also
result in oozing fluid. These are very painful.
Systemic gonococcal infection: These are also called as gonorrhea, it is also a sexually
transmitted disease and it can spread in the body through vaginal, anal or oral intercourse.
It can be caused by bacteria called Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It can infect both men and
women and is typically infecting one of the following on a typical scale:
Urethra
Throat
Rectum
Cervix
Kidney stones: These are the hard stones those are formed out of minerals and block the
urinary tract and they cause intense pain in abdomen. It can be caused due to formation of
solid masses of crystals (Abu-Naser and Shaath, 2016). They originate in kidneys and
can develop and block any area of urinary tract. This tract consists of various parts which

are kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra. These are one of the most painful medical
conditions. The causes of kidney stones vary according to the type of stone.
Bladder cancer: These are the tissues created on the bladder, which is the organ in the
body that holds urine. There are three types of bladder cancer:
Transitional cell carcinoma: is the most common type of bladder cancer.
It begins in the transitional cells in the inner layer of the bladder.
Transitional cells are cells that change shape without becoming damaged
when the tissue is stretched.
Squamous cell carcinoma: It begins when thin, flat squamous cells form
in the bladder after a long-term infection or irritation in the bladder.
Adenocarcinoma: It begins when glandular cells form in the bladder after
long-term bladder irritation and inflammation. Glandular cells are what
make up the mucus-secreting glands in the body.
Endometrial cancer: It is a type of cancer that begins in the inner lining of the uterus.
This lining is called as endometrium.
Urethritis: It is a condition in which the urethra, or the tube that carries urine from the
bladder to outside the body, becomes inflamed and irritated. Semen also passes through
the male urethra.
Epididymitis: It is the inflammation of the epididymis. It is basically a tube situated at
behind of the testicles that stores and carries sperm. When this tube becomes swollen, it
can cause pain and swelling in the testicles (Prendergast, 2017)
CONCLUSION: From the above discussion, it can be elucidated that potential cause of the
pain caused to Shahid, is due to kidney stone as the main cause of this problem is not eating
and it can lead to disturbance in position of that crystal and it can mean pain in abdomen and
painful urination.
