Issue
This assignment will highlight the issue related to colonization the life and culture of aboriginal
and Torres Strait islander people for the first nation people together with the continuing effect of
colonization towards the indigenous population. According to the suggested data, the conduct of
colonization has resulted in racism, inequality, several forms of discrimination as well as the
description of the culture of first Nations people( Phillips & Bamblett, 2009).
Feelings
The feelings before I was being exposed to this issue
Before the discussion of colonisation of the European invasion, my personal impression towards
the first nation or aboriginal people where different. I believe that this community of people like
to isolate themselves from the other parts of the world and live with their own dignity and
cultural practices. I used to believe that the aboriginal community does not allow or prefer the
invention of the non-aboriginal peoples are people from outside their community to engage or
participate with themselves, thereby maintaining social distancing and social exclusion from the
entire world. Towards the data that I gathered regarding the health challenges and life
expectancy rate together with the various forms of discrimination that it is often surrounded
around the aboriginal community people, my personal knowledge beforehand revolved around
their lifestyle and substandard choices of living together with introvert and rigid cultural values
that influences them to isolate themselves from the entire world.
The feelings after being informed about the issue

During my lecture class, I came to know about the history as well as the British colonization
within the European invasion. I never knew how the 1778 colonization by the British colonist to
over the rights as well as the land of the first nation people. Thailand how the aboriginal land
was being taken over by the British colonies and was designated as “Terra nullius”. I further
more learn about the large-scale Frontier war that divided the cultures among the non-aboriginal
and the aboriginal people which is still prevalent in the current decade. The impacts of the world
together with rapid decrease of population, introduction of new diseases followed by some of the
major effects of colonisation, poverty and racism are violating the rights of aboriginal citizens till
the current date. I believe that I have been enough fortunate in life that I and my family had not
face these issues of racism and poverty as well as lack of access to basic rights.
Critical evaluation
The knowledge regarding the factors of colonization as well as the devastating effects of British
invasion in first Nations land made me realise and reconsider the feelings and opinions of social
distancing and social exclusion practices of aboriginal people. This was definitely a good
knowledge that I gained towards understanding the current situation of the first nation people as
well as there are lack of rights towards their lands.
According to the research studies as well as the data that I have collected, aboriginal peoples
have always been discriminated in terms of various factors within the society for a long time. As
per my understanding, the chapters of history showed no negotiation or written treaty among the
aboriginals and the British colonies towards their basic rights and their land (Anderson & Tilton,
2017). This situation has delivered towards the challenge of aboriginal claiming citizen’s right.
However the effects of colonization of the history has been continuing till date. But no effective
policies and procedures have still being made by the government of the country to address the

challenges as well as the protest made by the aboriginal community people (Australian Law
Reform Commission. Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission. 1997).
Analysis
According to “Bringing them home report 1997”, one of the major and practices during the era
of colonization was the forcible removal of aboriginal children, commonly termed as the stolen
generation. Island from the Australian human rights commission is data that, the continuing
effects of stolen generation was a gross violation of human rights under the convention of
genocide 1949 (Keen, 2004). My attitude and belief towards the aboriginal people have changed
after going through bringing them home report in May 1997. The negative impact of protection
and segregation policies 1880 as well as the assimilation policies 1950 where acres over the
health status s and the violation of rights of the aboriginal people resulted due to colonisation.
Conclusion
After going through the government and historical research data, I am concerned about the
aboriginal people. Towards the context of health and basic human rights, I believe that these
people should be provided with their basic rights and necessities expert the UDHR
Action plan
Throughout the class I have gain new knowledge’s and data regarding colonization and the
effects of colonization over the lives of first nation or aboriginal people. The context of force
segregation of aboriginal people from their land as well as designated 'Terra nullis' is a new thing

that I learned. I would like to make a positive change over my thinking towards the Australian
society as well as the first nation people and I am looking forward for further studies and data
related to ooh colonization era and the conflicts between British invasions in first Nations land.
