Introduction
 Present report include discussion upon the vulnerable people in the Australian community which is about
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They are first inhabitants of Australia and are accepted as
Aboriginal in people by the community in which they live. This PowerPoint presentation include analysis on
this vulnerable community. Along with certain aspects such as support of government they are receiving,
disadvantages etc.

Who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
peoples?
The Federal Government defines an Aboriginal person as someone who:
• is of Aboriginal descent;
• identifies as an Aboriginal person; and
• is accepted as an Aboriginal person by the community in which he or she lives.

Details of spending on Indigenous education,
health and housing
 Education
Australian government is making public expenditure on this group of individuals which is
18% higher than per capita than for non-indigenous people those who are between 3- 24
years. In this government aimed towards providing greater and efficient assistance to students.
 Health
There are number of Commonwealth funded health programmes such as paramedical
benefit schemes and Medicare which is providing significant contribution in enhancing standard of
health services to indigenous Australian. Along with this government is also making difference in
their health taking use of state-funded health services such as community and hospital health
services to this group.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander disadvantage
 Irrespective of the fact that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is
equipped with rich history, but they are facing number of challenges from past
many years.
 They are experiencing widespread of cultural disconnection, equality and
discrimination which limit their voices and are impacting their life in number
of ways.
 Furthermore, it has been identified that is vulnerable group of people in
Australian community is facing challenges in education, children's literacy,
employment, life expectancy etc.

Supporting Vulnerable
World Vision Australia has been duly partnered with an
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s communities in
order to develop a long-term development goal to support and
collaborate this group of individuals to enhance their quality of
life. Number of new programs have been successfully
developed which is effectively working in the areas of
connecting youth to culture, early childhood care and
development, bringing people together to make improvement in
justice system and addressing gender-based violence,
strengthening future leaders and more.

Conclusion
 From the above-mentioned PowerPoint presentation, it has been evaluated that Federal Government of Australia
define about general individual as someone who are identify as Aboriginal person and comprises of various
nations with their own traditions and languages.
 This vulnerable group in Australian community somehow face many disparities between indigenous and non-
indigenous Australians, but there are a number of special treatments such as community development
employment project scheme, the indigenous employment program extra which is helping them to overcome the
disadvantages that they have been facing from many years.
