1SOCIOLOGY
In some historical surveys, several historians and political science experts have claimed
that best President of United States is undoubtedly Abraham Lincoln. It is quite an agreeable fact
because Lincoln took a pioneering role in the transformation of entire United States. There have
been several Presidents who have adorned that place. Some of them were Theodore Roosevelt,
Jefferson, Washington and many others. All those presidents have played their role of their rank
by bringing new political decisions for betterment or changing the political scenario of the
country. On the other hand, Abraham Lincoln would always be remembered as the one who took
some steps that change the landscape of United States forever. He abolished the social evil
named slavery from the country that had a huge impact in dividing people of North and Southern
America.
The question of slavery has been presented in this scenario promptly because it saved the
American society from getting divided completely between two sections. It could also have
resulted in internal conflicts, or probably civil war. The magnitude of Lincoln was great and he
was very humble as well. The Compromise of 1850 was a great step taken by Lincoln because he
declared California as a free state and people of Utah and New Mexico were allowed to decide if
they wanted to be a part of slave states again. Another step was to implement Kansas- Nebraska
Act in the year 1854. This allowed them to either select or turn down the question of slavery.
This established democracy in the country that was a huge step forward for the country. This is
the reason as to why Abraham Lincoln is truly the best President of United States.
