INTRODUCTION:
Leadership is the power of an individual or group of individuals to guide the employees of the
organization or it can be defined as the act of motivating the employees to work efficiently to
achieve the organizational goal. This report will discuss about the two selected leaders Mark
Zuckerberg and Sundar Pichai, their style of leadership as well as the leadership approach. Along
with this, It will discuss about how they take decisions, each leader's organization type and its
culture.
MAIN BODY:
Leader's Profile:
1. Sundar Pichai- He is an Indian born American business executive, and he is a Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) of its subsidiary Google and Alphabet Inc.. Sundar Pichai
joined Google in 2004, where he was mostly responsible for google drive, google chrome
and google OS.
2. Mark Zuckerberg- He is a philanthropist, internet entrepreneur as well as American
media magnate. He is the co-founder of social media website Facebook as well as the
chairman, chief executive officer and controlling shareholder of his parental company
Meta Platforms. In 2007, at the age of 23 Mark Zuckerberg became world's self- made
and youngest billionaire.
Leadership style and approaches of both the leaders-
Sundar Pichai and Mark Zuckerberg both uses the Transformational style as the leadership style.
They both trust, motivate and support their employees in the new projects (Demirtas and Karaca,
2020). They also remove the barriers between innovation, show the right path to the team.
Transformational leadership helps in growth and success of the organization. Both Sundar Pichai
as well as Mark Zuckerberg uses this type of leadership, so they are top successful leaders in the
world.

Sundar Pichai's organization is Google and Mark Zuckerberg's organization is Meta platform
(Facebook).
Google has Cross-functional or team based organizational structure which means it is the group
of many expertised people working together to achieve the goals of the organization. Facebook
has Matrix organizational structure which means Instead of having one manager for all aspects,
this type of organization has two or managers for the employees to report.
Power of sources of the leaders-
Google comes under the top companies of the world and it is very successful company. Sundar
Pichai's source of power is its position as CEO of the company. CEO's have power to take all the
decisions of the company as well as it can control the company. Sundar Pichai is the CEO means
he has all the power to direct the company.
Facebook is also the top company of the world and it is also very successful company. Mark
Zuckerberg is the co- founder as well as the CEO of Meta platforms. His power is the position of
CEO and co-founder of the company which means he is responsible for the overall product
strategy of the organization.
Leadership Approaches:
Both the leaders use same style of leadership that is transformational style because of this the
productivity of both the organizations are good and effective. They both use different types of
organizational structure. The organizational structure of both the organization is good and it
impacts the leaders' achievement as Google uses team based organizational structure in which
expertise people work which results in organizational achievement. Facebook uses Matrix
organizational structure which have more reporting managers by which work is done effectively
which leads to leader achievement.
Leadership in decision-making responsibilities-
The decision-making culture of Google is very effective as they take decisions in teams approach
used by them is People Analytics. It helps in effective decisions of financial as well as of social
outcomes. As making teams involves different employees which helps to take decision in diverse
culture. Facebook takes decisions by CSR corporate Social Responsibility (Yuan, Tian, Lu. and
Yu, 2019) as it helps to fulfil the needs of both the organization as well as social.

Leadership Vs Management-
Both the leaders main focus is on time management for effective work and increase its
productivity. This helps Google and Facebook to achieve its goals and objectives. Both uses
different types of management styles. Google uses 70-20-10 norm which means 70% time
devoted to research and advertising, 20% to off budget and 10% to one's own ideas. This
Google's management style helps them to manage wok and time efficiently. Facebook is mostly
depended on the high level of communication for timely completion of work.
Decision making responsibilities of leaders vs managers-
Leaders have responsibility of decision-making and supervising the employees who are taking
decisions beneath the leader. The final decision is made by the leaders. Ensures that The decision
made should help the organization in moving towards the right path. Whereas, managers has the
responsibility of taking the suitable decision, Managers good decision-making helps to increase
productivity which leads to overall growth of the organization(Heller 2019).
Connectivity of leadership vs management-
Leadership and management both of them have key themes of managing the people as well as
analysing the performance of the employees. These key elements of both the terms creates
connectivity between them.
Individual Leadership Traits-
By the analysis of the two leaders, Sundar Pichai's leadership is more efficient as he is a
thoughtful leader and Google is more well-organized and disciplined nowadays as well has better
management results than Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg gives more focus to the communication.
Key learning from leader's style and approach-
Sundar Pichai and Mark Zuckerberg use same type of leadership. This style of leadership helps
us to learn how they lead their employees in achieving the goals and objectives of the
organization. They also motivate the employees as the key responsibility of the leaders and take
suitable decision for the organization.

management styles, shows the comparison of decision-making roles of managers and leaders,
summarized the styles which relates more and key learnings of each leader's styles as well.
