INTRODUCTION
Health and social care it the term that associated to services which is accessible from
health & social care providers. Health care practitioners play vital role in healthcare sector, for
the wellbeing of human, they offer medical services in broad variety of medical fields effectively
(Barlow and et.al., 2016). Most of the people faced many issues in getting health care facilities,
they get abuse and neglect by practitioners many times that effects on its mental health as well as
physical wellbeing. The present report is based on tackling disregard and abuse in context of
H&S care settings. It explains the purpose and process of conducting research, qualities and
skills required to conduct Literature Review in health and social care. It defines the main topic
by using range of sources related to it. Results of literature search that conclude recent
knowledge about research subject (Moore, 2016). Furthermore, it justifies benefits of evidence-
based practice as procedure in carrying out whole research, define the project proposal for
proposed report based on investigation topic and different ways in which Literature Review
affects Evidence Based social & health care practices. Along with this, it justifies impact of
research on current health care practices improving service delivery.

P1 Purpose and procedure of research
The purpose of conducting research is to identify the ways for tackling abuse and neglect
in social and health care settings. It helps to gather more information about qualifying evidence-
based practices in health and social care to improve patient’s health. Through this study it is easy
to learn how to deal with issues effects on people wellbeing (Alon and Berg-Warman, 2014).
With the help of this research researchers can be able to find out better results in context of
setting health and social care. In this research researcher play essential role they contribute to
collect most important data related to course work for appropriate findings. Another purpose of
this research is to find out the importance of evidence-based practice in H&S care. EBP is
significant because it supports to cater effective care that is assessable with aim of improving
patient results. Patients are facing many problems as they get abuse and neglect by health care
practitioners, which is inappropriate for patients’ life. Neglect is failure of health practitioner
who is accountable for providing the best treatment to people. Purpose of this investigation is to
provide in depth understanding of human situation in health care. Furthermore, the aim of this
research is to find out the methods will use to improve health care practices in health care sector,
it helps to search out new knowledge that will lead to changes to health policies, treatments or
care.
The purpose of conducting this research is to study the negative behaviour of staff

members and reason of this behaviour in order to develop better practices that can enable staff
members to treat people effectively.
Process of conducting overall all research-
The procedure of conducting investigation by researcher in enabling evidence-based
activity in health and social care is very essential. Researcher conduct survey whether many
information about people health condition is available, by collecting this data they can improve
evidence-based practices. They asked questions during survey for many people live out in large
number of population area. Researcher used different types of methods for collecting appropriate
and suitable data in effective manner which is beneficial for findings (Harris and White, 2018).
Through survey they evaluate effectiveness of EBP and its importance in H&S care sector.
Survey is the best and correct process for conducting entire research in which researcher role is
most important. It defines as research procedure used by investigator for gathering data from

Impact of neglect and abuse in health and social care-
As per view of Hutchison, (2016) neglect is activity of health care practitioner who is
highly responsible for care, charge and custody of people to provide different types and amount
of care that patients would be expected to acquire. Neglect can be unintentionally or intentionally

that impact negatively on individual health. When health care provider neglects their patients, do
not give proper attention to all of them equally, patient get disappointed they feel neglected by
practitioner which is totally against ethical behaviour. It directly affects mental health of person
and increased risk of stress as well as depression in current or later life. Dong, (2015) stated that
Abuse means treating someone with violence and cruelty, especially repeatedly which impact on
health care service user for longer period. While providing services when health care practitioner
does not behave effectively and show some negative attitudes towards services users, they made
affects on well-being of individual. Patient neglect and abuse is activity to act that causes misery,
unreasonable suffering and harm to patient. It made long term impact on service user health and
mental prosperity. Abuse includes sexually assaulting and physically striking a patient, verbal
abuse is one of the actions that health care practitioner act and effects on patient’s health.
Neglect and abuse is unethical practices that impact on health of patients and the way
they recover health during treatments.
Strategies of tackling abuse and neglect in health and social care-
According to Tyson and et.al., (2015) by applying policies and following legislations in
hospitals healthcare practitioner can tackle neglect and abuse in heath and social care.
Legislation is made so that practitioners in service sector know which behaviour is appropriate
and acceptable and which is not. Laws and rules cover all features of people lives include
protecting health and safety of individual. Local and national authority is accountable to protect
individual from emotional as well as physical harm and danger. Health and safety policies,
process and legislation promote safety of person in health & social care settings. According to
these things, health care practitioner would act accordingly, they do not harm any one while
providing services verbally or physically. in order to protect and secure patients, within sector
implement legislation is very essential. Wydall and et.al., 2018 elucidated that Legislations is the
best way of tackling neglect and abuse, which is beneficial for patients. Health care practitioners
develop the best practices plan in which they provide correct services without differences based
on age. They do not need to neglect people if they belong to poor family background. Safeguard
helps to protect people right to live and get service related to health free from neglect and abuse.
Local authorities are accountable and have duties under law towards local people who are
experienced neglect or abuse.
Meaning and significance of evidence-based practices in H&S care-
Yan, Chan and Tiwari, (2015) discussed that Evidence based practices it explicit,
conscientious and judicious use of recent best evidence in taking decision about care of single
patient. It means integrating person clinical expertise with appropriate and best available clinical
evidence from systematic search. It has been developed to integrate great research evidence,

care practitioners work. It is all about applying the best investigation evidence practices to
decision taking and also include using good experience, training and skills that practitioner have
as health professional and taking in context of patient’s values and situations. AlAlyani and
Alshouibi, (2017) contradict that EBP is play leading role in health and social care sector,
accordant to these practices all the workers should provide high quality care to patients without
neglect and abuse. People have the right to take the best medical treatment that helps to improve
its health and make them able to live life without any disabilities. Patients in health care centre
expected to acquire most effective care based on assessable evidence which beneficial for their
health. By including evidence-based practice while treating patients service provider highly
contribute to delivery safety and well being services.

According to Horwitz and et.al., (2014) Health care practitioners play critical and main

based on evidence practices and health care approach. Their contribution greatly caters for well
being of overall society and community around them, they can act as advocates and friends along

tools used in providing treatments that enhance health of patients in better way. Turner and

the main responsibility of health care service provider in which they can take decision on
evidence-based practices. There are different types of ways available that can be used by service
provider for longer term benefits in individual health. Service provider always keep update
themselves about appropriate professional practice, they also focus on individual interest without
making difference between poor situations and conditions for people in receipt of care. The
negative impact of abuse and neglect is the key issues that researcher need to investigate in
whole research. The current report explains the benefits and importance of evidence-based

diseases. The people who abused by someone in health and social care services will not be able

LITERATURE REVIEW-
According to Brotman and et.al., 2015 the role of health care specialist in health and social care
sector is providing the best support for clinical and non-clinical needs. Abuse and neglect made
negative impact on mental ability of patients as well as make them more ill which is not suitable
for improvement. When people experience abuse during tacking health care services they get
stressed and dissatisfied with the whole work of service provider that is totally against ethical
behaviour. Abuse it term of mistreatment of practitioner towards their patients, it also happens at
anywhere with any one in hospital. Neglect and abuse are not acceptable in health and social care
setting, because it is quite dangerous and harmful act. As per view of Davey, 2016 Different
types of legislation and procedure protect people from both of these things, it helps to prevent
individual from harm. Most of the patients in health care sector get neglected because they
belong to poor family background and will not be able to take high cost treatments which is out
of their financial budgets. Neglect is one of the major issues which need to be tackle by
government as soon as possible for betterment of people health. Impact of practitioner negative
behaviour is highly effects on individual physical health, patients will not be able to recover
faster because of it. Patient require positive environment around area where they are taking
treatment since for long time, workers attitude towards them will also be positive. It led to
physical issues for elder person who need good health care service, in which the focus of service
provider is essential. Evidence based practices is very beneficial and helpful tool can used by
service provide for entire work and take the best as well as appropriate decisions for further
situations. with the help of EBP health practitioners can increase their knowledge about job role
and its accountabilities which drive them towards behave in ethical way.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY-
Research type
Specifically, there are two main types of methods that a researcher can use at the time conducting
the research report that are qualitative and quantitative method. Referring to this study, scholar
will be using qualitative method where the focus will be on obtaining the data by conversational
and an open-ended communication as it helps in studying the qualitative characteristics relating

Research approach
There are majorly two kinds of the approaches in the research such as inductive and a deductive
approach. While conducting this research report, an investigator will be using inductive approach
as it is the most suitable approach for qualitative study (Bresler and Stake, 2017). It starts with
developing the observations and reaching to the outcome on the basis of the theories. It helps he
researcher in assessing the qualitative elements of health care settings in a better way.
Research philosophy
Mainly the two philosophy are been applied in making the research report that involves
interpretivism and positivism. Researcher while framing this study will make use of
interpretivism philosophy as its best suits to the topic and considers all the social constructions
like language, shared meanings etc. This philosophy emphasizes more on the qualitative analysis
rather than quantitative study.
Data collection
Data can be collected by using 2 sources that is primary and secondary sources in making the
study more and more valid. In this report, scholar will use both primary and secondary data
through questionnaire, personal interview, publications, books, journal, articles and internet in
order to develop appropriate findings and the recommendation regarding the settings of health

Sampling
The sample can be made by an investigator in the study with the use of two methods that is
probabilistic and non-probabilistic sampling technique (Fletcher, 2017). The researcher in
making the study will use random sampling technique which is type of probabilistic sampling
where each sample is been given an equal chance of getting selected. The sample for this study
will be 20 healthcare practitioners that provide health and social care services to the people.
Data analysis
Data could be analyzed by using 2 main tools that is thematic and SPSS software (Cuervo‐
Cazurra and et.al., 2017). An investigator with reference to this study will use thematic analysis
where various themes are been created regarding tackling the abuse in the health and the social
care by the healthcare practitioners.
