INTRODUCTION
Academic plagiarism means to represent someone else work as own without taking
consent of that person or acknowledging it. The relevance in business is that it helps in
maintaining professionalism.
In this essay it will be described about plagiarism and its different types. Also, role of
internet in plagiarism. Besides that, it will be explained about why academic professionalism is
relevant to professionalism in a business and consequences for lack of academic professionalism.
At last ways to how to avoid plagiarism will be discussed (Uzun, and Kilis, 2020).
Essay
Plagiarism can be defined as a practice that is used by individuals to copy or imitate ideas
or work of some other person without their consent or acknowledgment. It is relevant in
academic writing because student in order to get better marks then other start copying or
imitating work of other individuals. Thus, it helps lecturer in identifying individuals that have
copied material of other so that it can get extra marks. It also helps in punishing student that have
tried to use unethical practices with an motivate to gain advantages over others by using ideas,
view of someone else. There are different types of Plagiarism such as global, paraphrasing,
verbatim, mosaic, self plagiarism and incorrect citation that are done by student. Global
Plagiarism means that whole work is copied of someone else, paraphrasing plagiarism state that
rephrasing and no use of citation has been done. While in verbatim plagiarism, student copy
whole passage or paragraph as it is without making any use of citation (Fusch and et.al., 2017).
Mosaic Plagiarism is type in which different sources of information are taken to write content
without use of any citation. On the other hand Self Plagiarism reusing similar words and
incorrect citation is student is unable to give relevant information about from where content has
been taken to make report. Use of more and more internet by younger generation or student has
promoted use of plagiarism in academic writing (Hourrane and Benlahmar, 2017). Internet is a
platform where individuals can easily access to different information or huge amount of content
written by different people thus create a better report. Therefore, through internet connection

student can easily access to various information and data thus just easily copy and paste to get
better result.
Academic professionalism is type of behaviour, work teacher generally expect form student to be
have in class thus it means they should act in proper discipline manner. Student that have
academic professionalism can easily fit well in business environment as it openly and trusty
share information with each other. Another point is that most of the employers like to hire
individuals that have more academic professionalism or value, ethics regarding the way
particular work need to be done. Therefore, they want people that have positive attitude so that
they can easily contribute in growth and success of business. So it can be stated that academic
professionalism is related to professionalism business environment as it will helps in more
productivity and less situation of prohibiting employees (Bellini and Maestripieri, 2018). There
are several consequences for lacking of academic professionalism for a business such as
individuals will not be able to perform task in the best possible manner. It would make use of
unethical practices in order to gain advantages over others or create problem, negative
environment within enterprise thereby creating hurdles in smooth operation of business. For
example one of employee has lack of academic professionalism that it will not have attitude or
manner regarding the way particular task can be completed that resulted problem or issue for
firm.

In academic writing work the most common issue which occurs in plagiarism. It is an
ethical issues in which text is copied from different sources and then it is written in academic
writing. Those who have done has committed crime. But it is evaluated that there are several
ways by which plagiarism can be avoided and academic writing is improved in business setting.
The ways are defined as below
Cite of source- this is most easy and common way to avoid plagiarism. here, in academic
writing source can be cited from various sites. It is because it enabled in finding out that text has
been taken from authentic source. Besides that, citation done should include full author name,
date, source, etc
Include quotation – this is also a way to avoid plagiarism. In this certain quotes can be used in
academic writing in order to make sure that work written is authentic. Furthermore, direct quote

can be used as well along with citation which enable reader to find out that quote is taken from
reliable source (Bailey, and Trudy, 2018).
Paraphrase- it means to do academic writing in own words. In that there is relevant source is
used from where writing is done. But meaning of sentence is not changed. It is necessary to
properly do paraphrasing so that it does not lead to plagiarism. But do not use similar words too
much. Besides that, it is necessary to include citation of source in it.
Present own idea- it is easier way to avoid plagiarism in academic writing as here idea presented
must be of own. Here, writer contribute to work by writing it own way and thinking. So, it will
also help in improving academic writing as vocabulary will be gained as well.
Using plagiarism checker- There are many plagiarism tools available through which plagiarism
can be checked. it helps in identifying that how much plagiarism is there. Thus, modifications
can be done accordingly within academic writing. Hence, this issue can be solved and plagiarism
is avoided (Uzun, and Kilis, 2020)..
