BMP3003 Further Academic Skills
Academic Integrity is important as it is the fundamental block in
which an institution forms their policies and rules. It provides the
students to construct and access knowledge honestly and fairly.
Academic honesty is really important to form new ideas and
creativity in the field of education as the students are asked to do an
extensive research which would help them in their field of study.
Plagiarism is a real threat to academic integrity as the students of an
organisation, when asked to present the study they took up, can copy
paste material from the internet or other sources which were not
initially done by the student themselves. Plagiarism basically means
copying an academic work of someone else and made it present in
such a way that reader believes it is original. But it was actually
available to be referred from. No proper credits are given to the initial
author and it is neither ethical, nor legal to use someone else's work
for own benefit. Which in turn gets demotivating for the real author.
Here it gets important to teach the students of a university the
importance of having a full academic integrity. The game discussed
above will help the students understand the importance and actual
meaning to have academic integrity among themselves.
The class will be divided into 3 teams, each team having equal
members.
A leader will be appointed from the each team who will be
giving the answers and come forward to pick a card.
The game will be divided into 3 rounds.
In the first two rounds, each team will be asked two set of
questions. If they are correct they will be awarded 10 points.
The third round will be rapid fire round and in this, 3 set of
questions will be asked randomly and teams who want to answer
can raise their hands, the first team to do so will be offered the
chance to speak first.
Passing of question for once, if one team is wrong is allowed
only in this round to give fair opportunities to all.
Each and every member of a team is motivated to take active
part in this activity as it will help with individuals interpersonal
skills and team spirit.
The team with the highest point score will be the winner.
