Health care has become very complicated and is changing rapidly. Due to this constant
change and complexity, nurses need to be more informed in order to give the required services.
For this reason the registered nurses have to seek further education in order to adapt to this
changing environment in nursing. Preparing to earn an advance degree in colleges may be
overwhelming to the nurses. However, there are some strategies that may be applied to the
Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) program to make it easy. This article identifies and
describes some resources that can be applied in MSN program as well as some professional
resources that can be applied to success in the nursing practice. The latter part of this article also
explains how I intend to use this resources and the benefits they may bring to me academically
and professionally.
Academic strategies
Learning by watching and doing
This strategy allows registered nurses (RNs) to learn through clinical experiences,
experiments, classrooms and also online. The strategy is important in achieving necessary

training and experience. Nurses undertaking MSN are allowed to conduct experiments as well as
visiting clinics where they obtain knowledge through observation. They also find some recorded
materials online which they use to gain mire knowledge about their profession.
Acceptance of technology as the future
Technology is of great significance to RNs when they are undertaking MSN program. It
has transformed health care in great way as it is used in everything from patient’s record keeping
to patient testing. Technology has increased the efficiency of nursing services and also made it
easy to take care of several patients at once. With the technology skyrocketing at this rate in
nursing, RNs need to accept technology as the future of their profession.
Embracing long life learning
Attaining MSN education and graduating is not the end of Advanced Practice Registered
Nurses (APRNs). The nurses need to keep pace with fast changing health care method and
advancement in technology so as to provide best services to their patients (Qanbar et al.,2017).
For this reason they need to keep researching all years of their profession. They need to learn
from all the resources available and their experiences so that they become better each day.
Professional strategies
Focus on leadership
Leadership is the primary component of MSN degree. Due to their advancement in
education, APRNs are considered leaders in all health care institutions. Nurses should focus on
leadership for they will need to apply leadership skills in their professional work places. They
need to be leaders in evaluation, design, implementation and advocacy to the ongoing changes to
the system that will be required. This leadership skills must be applied within the profession and
in relating with other health personnel.

Foster relationship
Reaching out to patient is one of the roles of APRNs and also corroborating with other
health care providers. When assisting assault victims, building trust and relationship is the key to
success when undertaking MSN program (Nayda & Rankin, 2018). Mostly, advanced
communication is used by nurses in order to promote relationship between them and patients.
This relationship helps in creating an open environment for nurses and patients in that the
patients can discuss openly their problems.
Develop business acumen
Medical institutions are not only for treating patient with health problems but also
business institutions. For this reason, nurses undertaking MSN are expected to also see the
institution as a business and therefore many patients should be treated and bring profit. They are
therefore expected to be mindful of the business approach to medicine in addition to clinical
outcomes.
I intent to use all the above mentioned resources through my MSN program because they
are of great significance in my profession. In academic wise, through experiments and
experience in different fields such as clinical experiments, I intent to learn fully from them as
this will help me grow skillfully in nursing. In addition to this, being aware of technology which
is transforming nursing method constantly I will work easily at any time and without having
trouble with any change in methods used in nursing. Professionally, understanding the
significance of relationship with patients will help me attend to the needs of the patients

accordingly. Similarly, I intent to acquire leadership skills during my MSN program which will
be important when I am dealing other medical professionals.
The above discussed strategies are very important to all registered nurses. They need to
consider them to make their transition to advanced degree in nursing to be easy. The strategies
also are of great significance in how they relate to patients and their co-workers and therefore all
nurses should take them very seriously.
