INTRODUCTION:
Academic skills are those skills which are developed due to academic qualification
(Rick and Phlypo, 2019). These skills help to provide various opportunity for
development of career as well as career growth. Personal development plan helps to
develop various skills and also include action to be taken for development of skills.
Task 1:
Definition of Personal as well as Professional development
Personal development is a long term process as it taken place in lifelong which
include development of skills as well as qualities in a person that helps to attain their
goals of life whereas professional development refers to process of development of
skills which helps to meet needs of a person (MERT and SAMUR, 2018). These
skills help a person to boost confidence and increase their motivation towards
attainment of their skills. It also provides various opportunities in life of a person.
Description of short term goals with identification of personal examples
Short term goals refer to goals which are easy and simple and can be attained with
less efforts within less time. These goals helps in development skills and capabilities
which helps in provide various opportunities. Some of example of short term goals
are as follows:
 Development of presentation skills.
 Understanding referencing and importance of referencing in academic life.
 Importance of reflection in academic life.
Description of medium term goals with identification of personal examples
Medium term goals refers to goals which provide base for a person in attainment of
long term goals . Attainment of these goals are taken time form 6 month of 2 years.
Some of example of medium term goals are as follows:
 Building network that helps to find various opportunities.
 Development of academic skills.
 Gaining experience of job through work placement.

Long term goals refers to goals that require much time than other two goals as well
as require efforts (Fotiadou, 2020). These goals help a person in attainment of

different goals and objectives of life. Personal example of individual as long term
goals includes following:

 Planning of retirement of future for spending life without any problem.
