REFLECTION
Evaluation and analysis of own practices or actions is one of the most effective tool to
encourage development (Wain, 2017). For developing as a good university student it is required
that several aspects of personality must be developed and encouraged. Through the module I
have developed several skills which can help me to become a good student. By interacting with
different types of individuals and by means of several communication methods I have been able
to develop good public speaking and listening skills. I used to develop several short and long
term SMART goals to enhance my employability skills. When I got the chance to make several
assignments then I used to work in teams for conduct thorough research with the help of
information and communication tools.
To accomplish my several academic goals, I used to set a fix timeline so that I am constantly
motivated to achieve that goal. In my opinion for becoming a good student one must have
optimistic attitude towards learning. As a learner one must always have enthusiasm to learn new
approaches and things. Being a learner initially I faced lot of difficulties in learning because
notes taking and learning methods at university are very different from that of school. Thus it is
important that one must always have prospect to accept new ideas willingly. At university level
time management and problem solving is considered as crucial challenge for the learners. I used
to find it very difficult to balance my time between all personal and academic priorities.
However, I employed and learned different strategies for managing time. Initially I used to
prefer only limited problem solving approaches but with time and development my mentors
guided me to adopt multiple approaches for handling complex situations in academics. Without
these two skills it can be impossible for university students to acquire good grades. I have also
learned that lack of clarity and clear understanding of goals act as significant barriers for the
students to develop and grow. In the initial stages of my own development I was not aware about
the selection of development of goals thus I used to make goals which seems easy to me.
However, it affected my progression greatly and caused delay in the development process.
Later on when I improved my vision and goals to have specific and realistic goals with clear
measurement criteria then it became very easy for me to choose accurate strategies. I always ask

for feedbacks from my tutors and mentors so that I can review my own performance with critical
thinking. Academic skills cannot be developed without understanding the performance gaps
(Chang, 2019). These gaps can be identified with the help of self-evaluation as well as
performance review from the other experts. To improve the skills, I always try to make notes and
accomplish my objectives with suitable planning so that I do not skip or miss any key point.
Academic development needs integrated team work with inclusion of diverse individuals so that
learning can be promoted and skills are developed in more efficient way.
