INTRODUCTION
The present report would give brief discussion about academic and professional integrity
and comparison with past understanding and use within their studies.
Academic and professional integrity
Academic integrity signifies avoiding plagiarism as ensures to give credit to other person
whose work is used instead of claiming that work as own. It is commitment and demonstration of
moral and honest behaviour in academic setting (Kernbach, Eppler and Bresciani, 2015).
Professional integrity is replicated as professional who is consistently and willingly practices
within guidelines of mission of selected profession under obligation of code of ethics.
Importance
Academic and professional integrity is very important for various individuals as student,
community and future employers, clients or patients as well. As a student, one cheats in course
or another academic exercise, then opportunity has been missed for learning, developing and
improving skills and while retaining educational degree which shows own academic attainments.
It gives high value to degree as employers preference is to hire graduates with high personal
integrity and they would invest for developing human capital who would be positive influence on
organization and someone could be trusted for carrying mission of the organization. On basis of
intellectual community which lays emphasis on teaching and research as transmission, creation,
applying and sharing of knowledge is common activity related to community (Pearson, 2017). It
also violates fundamental values of community as cheating could hurt people with whom one
will work in the future. Usually, people are preparing for careers where services would be
offered to others such as journalistic, legal, research, medical etc. In case, one does not learn how
to do work, then future employers and clients will be cheated on basis of knowledgable
professional.
With reference to professional integrity and commitment level is very important as of
now, numerous people are fired each year for purpose of professional misconduct ranging
through fudging resumes till using inflated expense statements. The frauds are directly
dominating headlines of newspapers eroding trust and wealth of investor. Absence of
professional integrity does not harm personal brand but also professional standing as well
(Dubinsky, 2019). In bad market with various lay-offs, honesty and integrity is assumed more

important for building the personal brand. Academic and professional integrity offers peace of
mind knowing the belief of performing right thing and tries to act consistently with beliefs. This
reduce lot of unnecessary stress in life, making healthier, happier and productive.
Application in education and industry sectors
With context to education sector, universities lays emphasis on sending student created
materials with reference to anti-plagirism checking service which would directly report that how
similar students performs to various sources of internet, database of library along with growing
pool of students does from other institutions. In the similar aspect, faculty members would

signifies the best way to behave but this burnishes professional reputation and integrity of

business leaders. The professional integrity is of consistent strive for being the best person with
interaction to others. Integrity in industry gives different advantages, not least but with critical
factor allows society and industry to function properly.
Comparison
Before studying academic and professional integrity, it leads others trust on another
person. The person with one deals and could rely and act honestly what one say and perform.
The entire world is on basis of ability for trusting each other and developing the best ethical
habits in college and industry leads to integrity and helps in facing ethical issues. It was tightly
correlated with academic honor code and was monitored mainly through students and
surrounding culture of time, it only laid emphasis on duty, pride, power along with self esteem. It
was tied solely to appearance and status of upstanding feature of individual. After this study, it is
referred as value, behaviour along with conduct of academics in every aspect of their practice
while noting term has been misappropriated for referring students conduct, related to behaviour
like cheating and plagiarism (Hultman and et.al., 2018). Simultaneously, referencing was just
stating link and after understanding, it allows for acknowledging the contribution of other writers
and researchers in work. Referencing is mode to give evidence for supporting assertions along
with claim in assignments and provides proper attribution to those from information and idea is
sourced.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it is concluded that academic and professional integrity is very
important for every individual whether one is working or earnings. It has shown that referencing
enables one to make work to observe ideas and influences work is originated.
