EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Tourism and Hospitality is considered to be one of the vast industry that involves various
career paths. The hospitality and tourism industry is highly impacted by the various factors
that involves Social, Economic, Environmental and various other issues that influence the
organisation and tourism activities.
INTRODUCTION
A University is basically an institution of higher learning that provides various facilities
for the research and teaching and is authorized for the purpose to grant academic degrees in a
special manner. A stakeholder is basically is a party or individual who has an interest in a
organisation and which can be affected by the business. In context to Universities, there are
various internal and external stakeholders involved in creating a university. The internal
stakeholders in the higher education institutions involves students and personnel whereas the
external stakeholders involves customers and partners. It is very important for the Higher
education to respond to the needs of their various stakeholders(Galskova, Komochkina and
Selezneva, 2020).
In context to report, it basically involves studying a degree in relation to Health and Social
Care which involves health impacts, the economic impacts, impact on the Tourism, Hospitality
and Event Industries and the Environmental Impacts and the Social Impacts and various issues
related to the safety, health and crime. It also involves various issues such as costs involved in
the project and job creation issues. The report further involves the issues such as potential use of
university facilities for hospitality purposes, impacts on the city as a tourist destination and
changes in the type of events that are hosted in the city. Moreover, it involves environmental
impacts such as the environmental impacts of any construction work that is needed, impacts on
the city’s carbon footprint and opportunities for sustainable design and building(Felea and
Stanca, 2019).

Analysis
For students studying a degree related to Tourism and Events Management the first subsection
should be The Impacts on the Tourism, Hospitality and Events Industries.
Impacts on the city as a tourist destination: In context to the cities, the tourism has a major
influence if the city is one of the tourist destination as it basically involves environmental,
economic and socio cultural dimensions. In context to tourism it involves various economic
factors such as standard of living, improved personal income and tax revenue and more
employment opportunities. It also involves various common impacts such as maintaining and
keeping local culture, increasing cross cultural interaction, strengthening cultural values, crafts
and traditions, understanding, arts, empowering host communities(Kulikova, Rudoman and
Polovodov, 2021). With the help of tourism it bring a lot of opportunities to the city that
involves increase investment in promotion, infrastructure, conservation and training that helps in
bringing more than financial benefits to the cities. In relation to the impact cities due to tourism,
it basically has major factors that involves dimensions, economic, environmental and social
cultural. These further involves the standards of living, improved tax revenue, employment
opportunities and personal income. In addition to that it helps in providing various benefits such
as host destinations as it also further helps in boosting up the revenue of the economy, planting a
sense of cultural exchange among citizens and foreigners(Hursen, 2021).
Changes in the type of events that are hosted in the city: In context to event industries, there are
various types of changes that tourism brings in relation to the negative and positive impacts on
tourists destinations that involves various impacts in relation to the environmental, economic and
socio cultural dimensions. In context to economic effects of tourism it comprises of personal
income, tax revenue , employment opportunities and standard of living(Factors Affecting
Tourism Industry and Its Impacts on Global Economy of the World, 2020).The socio cultural
impacts basically involves the interaction among people who comes from a different cultural
behaviour, backgrounds and attitudes. In context to events and tourism it brings a lot of negative
and positive health outcomes for the local community. In context to tourism and industries, there

are various types of events which are hosted and which leads to various changes and also affects
the overall population of the company and in addition to that all these changes plays a major role
in affecting the overall operations(Hu and et.al, 2021).
Potential use of university facilities for hospitality purposes: In context to hospitality, there are
various potential use of university in the sector that involves leading to natural habit lost, soil
erosion, increased pollution and also more pressure on the endangered species. In context to
organisations, there are various facilities which are used for the hospitality purpose which helps
in achievement of the goals and objectives of the company and also results in keeping the
environment safe and healthy and using the university facilities in the most appropriate manner.
In context to Tourism and hospitality industries, there are various facilities which are provided
by the organisation that involves college canteen, teaching staff, internet culture, college hostel,
library and information centre, transportation and various other facilities. In context to
universities, there are various grounds and buildings which are intended to use by the staff,
students and faculty for the purpose to support the service, mission of teaching, scholarship and
services. Moreover, the individuals might engage in various other activities and expressive
events(Griffiths and et.al, 2018).
The Environmental Impacts: The environmental impact can be defined as the change to the
environment that basically results in facility services, activities and products. It basically can be
described as the various changes that can occur which results in services, activities and products
and also results in affecting the actions of the environment(Tourism Industry: Everything You
Need to Know About Tourism, 2020).
Impacts on the city’s carbon footprint: A Carbon footprint is basically a total amount of
greenhouse gases that involves methane and carbon dioxide which are basically generated by the
actions. In context to tourism, the transportation is considered to be the main source of
greenhouse gas emissions that involves cars, planers and C02 per passenger mile that involves
trains, buses and ferries. It can further result in greater damage from storms and sea surges, beach
erosion, reduced water supply and higher sea levels(Tan and Laswad, 2018).

In context to the amount of carbon emissions which are trapped in the atmosphere can
result in causing climate change, symptoms that involves the rising of sea levels, extreme
weather events, the polar ice caps and various other factors. In context to various cities, these are
considered to be the major contributors in the climate change. In context to cities, it involves the
lower carbon footprint that helps in understanding the reasons behind the cities producing carbon
in comparison to the little C02(Torrijos Fincias, González Sánchez and Serrate González,
2020).
Opportunities for sustainable building and design: Sustainability building also known as Green
Building involves the application and structure of process that are resource efficient and
environmentally responsible throughout a building life cycle that involves renovation, planning
to design, construction, demolition , maintenance and operation. In context to sustainability
building there are various benefits of the sustainable buildings that involves efficiency of energy,
improved indoor environment, enhanced health, saving water, reduced maintenance and
operational cost and shared resources. The sustainable design basically helps in reducing the
negative Impact on the environment and heath. The main purpose of the sustainability is to
reduce the consumption of the non renewable resources, creating productive environment,
minimizing waste and building a good and healthy environment(Cooksey and McDonald,
20190.
The environmental impacts of any construction work that is needed : In context to
construction, there are various factors that can affect the environment which basically results in
air pollution, dust generation, operations with vegetation removal and noise pollution(Barry,
2020).
The Social Impacts:
The social impacts basically involves the various factors that could result in influencing the
individuals. The social impact basically involves the importance of the positive changes that
helps in addressing the challenges and social injustice(Cheng, 2018).

Changes to the demographic of the area: It basically involves the social change that could be
happen due to change in the demographic or geographical manner. Demographics basically
involves marital status, ethnicity etc(Klochko, 2019).
Increased education opportunities: Another relevant issue involves in the level of education
opportunities and more chances of getting aware about the new universities and opportunities.
Issues related to crime and health and safety: In context to health, safety and crime, there are
various issues which involves anxiety related illness or depression and various long term
problems. In context to health and safety, there are various issues that need to be taken into
consideration and need to work upon in order to solve the health, safety and crime which
involves various causes such as unemployment, poverty, religion, background, peer pressure,
drugs and society(Dissanayake, 2018).
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it can be concluded that while opening a university in a new city can
have major influence as it results in dealing with the various issues such as economical, social
and environmental which are really important in order to survive in the environment of the new
place. It is very important to have a deep understanding of the various issues that comes under all
these categories and having a detailed knowledge regarding the various factors and
implementing the operations in effective and efficient manner. Moreover, the report helps in
having major information regarding the key factors and relevant issues that students of different
areas of study might have to face during their courses in the university
