1PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The concept of project management is very much important for successful completion
of the project. A perfect project always have some defined scope and a finite completion time
for the project. For managing this projects the project manager plays an important role as for
managing project, the project manager must have proper skills, knowledge and innovations
techniques (Ziek & Anderson, 2015). From my academic learnings I have assessed various
types of project implementation techniques. In the following section I will be discussing
about my learnings from the academics regarding the project management.
From my academic modules I have learned about the concept of project management
and in this case I have learned specifically about the principles of project management. I was
not having any proper knowledge about the project management before attending this
modules. I can say that by attending classes regarding this modules my knowledge about the
project management principles has improved more. In the first module I have learned basics
of the project management. Thus from this modules I have gained a little knowledge
regarding the project management (Artto et al., 2017). In the same module I have also learned
various types of methodologies which are used within the project management. From this
class I have also learned why this methodologies are so much important for the project
management (Larson & Gray, 2017). Also, a vast knowledge has been gained by me
regarding project management life cycle models. Execution methods project management is
also discussed in this case through which I have gained some crucial knowledge about the
project management.
The second lecture was all about project management life cycle model and project
management standards regarding the principles of project management. Four phases of
project life cycle management has been discussed in this case and form this discussion of my
lecturer I have assessed that the this four phases of the project management life cycle are the
initiation of the project, planning of the project, execution of the project and closure of the

project. I have also gained a brief idea about the project management standards. In our
learnings there are various of standards of project management but according to my opinion
PMBOK and the PRINCE2 are the most important standards of the project management.
Regarding this I have learned that PMBOK and PRINCE2 must be followed while executing
a project.
The third lesson in this aspect was all about project selection methods and project
initiation. From this lesson of my academics, I have understood the concepts of project
leadership and project portfolio management. How the project selection methods executes
regarding the project management is learned by me which can actually help me in my future
studies regarding the project management practices. I have also learned preparation of the
business case from this learning which will help me to create a reasoning due to which a
project will be initiated.
The next learning was about the statement of the work which is one of the most
important aspects of the principles of project management. In my classes I have learned this
SOW or the statement of the work is a typical type of document in which specific types of
tasks are defined regarding the management of a project. With that in SOW deliverables of
the project, timeline of the project and some specific services that are provided by the
vendors are recorded. The SOW is also important in this aspect as various individual tasks
regarding the project management is also defined in this case.
Module three has been discussed in this class where two important concepts of the
principles of project management has been discussed (Turner & Ledwith, 2018). This two
concepts of principles of project management are the project management life cycle models
and the project management methodologies. In this aspect I have assessed that organizational
structures is capable of influencing the project management procedures. Project management

life cycle model is also learned by me in this case which are the agile project management,
extreme project management and the traditional project management. Reward system and the
motivation of the employees can heavily influence the execution of the project management.
Project management knowledge areas has been also discussed in this learning module.
I have assessed that there is total ten areas which are related with the project management
knowledge areas. This ten areas of the project management knowledge are the project
schedule management, project quality management, project communication management,
project communication management, project procure management, project integration
management, project scope management, project cost management, project resource
management, project resource management, project risk management and the project
stakeholder management. Management of the project scope is very much important in this
case as through this required information can be collected from the relevant stakeholder of
the project. Through the project resource management, important resources for the project
and can be categorised and allocation of the resources can be done. In this aspect the project
integration management is also important as through this knowledge area impact analysis and
benefit realization can be done.
In the next module principles of project management has been learned by me in the
aspects of failure and success of the project. Through this module I have learned why the
projects becomes a failure in many of the cases and the main reason behind success of a
project. I have gained this learning of the project failures as various of industry examples has
been discussed in my classes. Through this learning I have assessed that the main reason
behind the failure of the projects are the ineffective communication, error in budget
estimation and poor leadership.

In the last module I have successfully assessed procedures of subject reviewing. In
this learning module I have successfully engaged with the practical knowledge of the project
management. A revision has been done of all the modules that is learned by me previously
which has helped me to perform my reflection. Thus from overall learning regarding this
module I can have gained many crucial knowledge about the theories of project management.
In this aspect I believe that this knowledge regarding the projects will help me to become a
perfect project manager in the practical cases.
