Information assortment is known as the system of collecting, evaluating and investigating exact
knowledge for research using standard procedures. A scientist can analyse their theory based on
collected data. It can be done through two ways primary research and secondary research.
Primary research: Essential examination is research collected straightforwardly from the
exploration territory, via analyst. for the most division includes the specialist visiting to the
commercial field to find the data they are searching for. The chance that the scientist doesn't
went into the field they may send or leave something into the field to record information for
them.
secondary research: it is the second hand research and that is collected from the previous data by
evaluating it through the scientist's work area/PC. It will give the consequences of examination
completed by others.
In the present study primary research is done so that first handed results can be get.
Sampling
At the point when researcher direct explore about collecting of individuals, it's infrequently to
collect data from each individual around there. All the things considered, to select a sample. The
sample is the collecting the views of people who really participate in the survey It is of two types
random sampling and non random sampling.
Random sampling: Random sampling is the essential inspecting method where researcher
chooses a variety of subjects for selection from a bigger gathering (a population). Each
individual is selected by coincidence and each individual from the population has an equal
chance of being selected for it. Each individual of a given size has a same possibility of
selection.
non random sampling: Guaranteeing that each individual in a population has not the same
likelihood of being selected is similarly as tough to get; taking each examining sample careful
seeing the likelihood is considerably more important. The people that cannot be selected as a
character for sample are does not belong to the individual who belongs to interested group.
In the current investigation random sampling has been selected as employees who are chosen for
interview are selected randomly. 20 employees are selected from Tesco.

technique reduces dangers natural in situation by giving precious experiences and measures,
regularly introducing pictures, graphs, tables, and diagrams. It is of two types.
Thematic perception test technique: The Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) utilizes a
progression of vague pictures of individuals in various circumstances to which the watcher
attributes meaning.
SPSS: SPSS is programming for altering and investigating a wide range of information. These
information may come from fundamentally any source: logical examination, a client data set,
Google Analytics or even the worker log records of a site (Leonard and Lovatt, 202).
This study has used thematic test technique in order to get reliable results.
Research findings
The foremost results of an exploration project; what the task proposed, not covered or
showed. This normally takes to the entire different results, as opposed to the ending or
suggestions taken from them.
From the above research it is found that due to lack of policy implementation company is
facing issues of diversity and equality. Some employees are facing gender inequality at
workplace. If company had proper policy then employee would have not face such issues. There
are many benefits of equality like employee retention and employee satisfaction. If company will
support equality and eliminate practices which hinders equality then employee will not leave the
organisation. As they will think that company is giving them equal opportunities. If Tesco will
value their employees then employee will not leave the organisation and this will result in
reducing employee turnover rate. Employees who come with diverse backgrounds have new
skills and experience and that can benefit to the organisation. Report has also evaluated that
teams which have diverse workforce in terms of age, location and gender tend to perform better.
As such team will apply experience of every age group and tend to get more success. Diversity
facilitates innovation. As diverse workforce will provide more creative ideas and have such skills
which facilitate innovation. Innovation will help company to grow and beat the competition.
When people of different culture and locations work together then company get knowledge of
new markets. As the business is achieving globalisation so having knowledge of different
location is also very important. When company will give value to diverse workforce then it will
help in improvising brand reputation. As nowadays company’s have to disclose their gender pay
gap data and if company is supporting and balancing gender while hiring the workforce then
12

their reputation in the market increases. Good reputation will result in more sales and revenue. If
company carries discrimination then that can hurt the image of the company as frequently
employees will leave the organisation if they will not treat equal. Employees will demotivate if
they are discriminated and that will reduce their productivity. Employee will feel nervous and
that will influence their performance. Discrimination can even lead to conflicts in the
organisation and company can loss top performing employees because of discrimination. When
company hire diverse workforce then they can face language barriers. So diverse workforce
should be provided training so that they can understand that what company is expecting from
them.
Employees of Tesco feels that there are equality at the workplace but by implementing equality
policy company can bridge all the gaps which are there in terms of equality. Company also
support diversity in the process of recruitment. They give advertisement in such a manner that
attract diverse workforce. As company knows the importance of diversity so they focus on hiring
diverse candidates (Nachmias, Ridgway and Caven, 2019). To the employees company provide
them diversity training so that workforce can build skills and knowledge and can give their best
performance. Company respond to every grievance of employees whether it is in terms of
discrimination or other. For this company organise meeting in which the person who has
complaint is called with their reporting manager. HR of Tesco listen to the issue and discuss with
the reporting manager and then take actions against the problem. Company do not delay such
matter because they know that such matter can create big problems. To reduce bias from
promotions and hiring, company have set criteria to hire employees on the basis of performance.
So this will result in equality because only those employees will be promoted who are working
hard. For the hiring process also company has introduced many steps so that employees can be
correctly evaluated and if the HR already knows the candidate then he will not take that
candidate interview so that any little chance of bias can be avoided. Benefits of equality and
diversity are many but it is up to company that how they are getting it. Although Tesco is aware
on equality topic but going through certain changes can be beneficial for company only.
Conclusion
Through this report it can be concluded that equality is vital thing at workplace and the
company who does not follow equality and do discrimination will not going to survive in the
long run. Report has conducted interview in which employees are asked questions related to
13
Document Page
equality and diversity at their workplace. While doing the primary research, questionnaire
method is also opted. Questionnaire is filled by the employees which contain open ended and
close ended questions. Report has also discussed about data analysis, data collection and
sampling technique which has been used. In the end findings are provided in the study.
