INTRODUCTION
Learning and development can be explained as the continuous activity of improving and
enhancing the skills, knowledge and abilities of an individual so that they can achieve desired
aims and objectives to achieve success in their academics, personal and professional lives. The
main purpose of this report is to reflect on the learning and development process that was
achieved during attending the module. Reflection can be considered as a very important aspect
that can help an individual to identify and evaluate their learning and development activities
during the course work (Foote, 2010). It can be helpful to discover the shortcomings and gaps in
the learning and development activities of an individual so that it can be improved. Academic
learning is a very necessary and integral component for the growth of a person in their
academics, which enhances their abilities, skills and knowledge to achieve success. The report
presents a personal reflection on learning and development that I have achieved by attending the
module. In this context, it will also reflect on the skills, knowledge and abilities that I have
developed, which will be helpful during my academic and career development in future. Also,
the report intends to reflect upon my presentation abilities that are achieved by preparing a
presentation and how it can be improved. At the end of this report, there will be a personal
development plan that will consist of the strategic plan for developing and enhancing skills and
abilities to achieve personal, academic and professional success in future.
REFLECTION ON LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT
The learning development activities in academics consist of the enhancement of composite
skills and abilities like communication, analytical thinking, research, time management,
presentation, creativity/ innovation, etc. for achieving success and growth. For making the
personal reflection on learning and development from the module, the Gibbs Reflective Cycle
can be used. Gibbs Reflective Cycle is a commonly used cyclical method to reflect on learning
by exploration of experience gained by an individual through 6 stages (Markkanen and et. al.,
2020).
Description: By attending the module I have obtained the learning about various skills and
abilities that are required by an individual in the construction industry. It has been discussed
that there are various concepts, theories and models that can be helpful to enhance growth of

opportunities in the industry. I have developed various skills and knowledge such as
technical/technological know-how and conceptual learning that are essential for developing
my career in this industry.
Feelings: I feel that overall experience through the learning and development was very
interesting because it involved me in various activities that can provide suitable
opportunities to learn and grow with others. Sometimes, I felt incapability and lack of skills
to understand certain things, but thanks to my instructors and professors who guided me
through the process to make my experience fruitful.
Evaluation: It should be brought into consideration that I have identified certain transferable
skills that I have attained during the module. I have developed skills and qualities such as
leadership, professionalism, research abilities, IT/ computer skills etc.
Analysis: In my view the learning I have obtained from the module will be helpful to
achieve competitive success in my academic career as well as it will help me in my
professional development. I may not have developed these skills and abilities without the
guidance of instructors and professors, and support of my colleagues who encouraged me to
keep learning and growing throughout the process.
Conclusion: It can be concluded that the overall learning and development activities can be
helpful for achieving academic success as well as professional development. With the help
of this module I have obtained many skills, knowledge and abilities that can help in my
academics and personal life.
Action plan: An action plan for further development is given at the end of the report.
I think overall learning during the module is important for achieving growth and success in
my academic and professional career. By studying various frameworks, methods, models,
strategies and theories provide conceptual and theoretical knowledge/ learnings that will provide
strong support to obtain higher academic results as well as my career in the construction industry

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
In my perception, learning obtained during the module is important for achieving growth
and success in my academic and professional career. Studying construction management was
helpful for me to develop their understanding about technology used and the automation in the
construction industry. It is truly said by Bill Gates, "the first rule of any technology used in a
business is that automation applied to an efficient operation will magnify the efficiency and vice
versa." By studying various frameworks, methods, models, strategies and theories I have
obtained conceptual and theoretical knowledge learning that will provide strong support to obtain
higher academic results as well as my career in the construction industry. By attending the
module various skills and abilities could be developed such as teamwork, communication, and
research ability, critical thinking, etc. (Burns, Maier and Sinfield, 2020). These skills and
abilities were developed through various activities during the module like group discussion,
assignments, games, etc. that could also help me to achieve better chances for growth in my
career.
Studying construction management will open the opportunities for developing my career in
the construction industry. I have developed the proper understanding, knowledge, skills and
abilities along with the conceptual understanding about the given field which will provide further
career growth opportunities. I will be focusing on developing and improving skills and abilities
through continuous improvement during the module with the help of a personal development
plan. The learning development activities in academics consist of the enhancement of composite
skills, knowledge and learning like communication, analytical thinking, research, time
management, presentation, creativity/ innovation, etc. for achieving academic success and career
growth (Pugh and Broome, 2020). Continuous improvement activity is very important for
achieving success in academic and professional careers. I will focus on improving those skills
and abilities where I lack and try to expand my persona with continuous learning and
development. I will focus on enhancing various skills and my leadership abilities because Marvin
Bower said "leaders and leadership teams together could provide better chances to work
smoothly in an instant of hierarchical/ command-control management (Bower, 2021)." Therefore
I will focus on becoming an effective leader also.

REFELCTION ON PRESENTATION
Presentation can be explained as the act of conveying/demonstrating, informing or
introducing the general public or audience for informing, persuading and motivating them
through audio, visual and written formats (Cirocki and Farrell, 2019). I have developed a
presentation that focused on highlighting innovation and technology in the construction industry
for which I required various skills and abilities. I have also developed certain presentations
earlier but it was a different one that I had never done before because it was to be done in a
formal manner that includes proper structure, demonstration and referencing. I have completed
the presentation in a very nice manner that is very effective when presented to the peers. I feel
that I was very successful in making the presentation engaging, authentic and eye catching for
the people. The complete idea of demonstrating various images that suit the text is helpful to
create easy understanding among the audience (Jansen and et. al., 2021). There are certain flaws
that I have discovered from my presentation such as optimum utilisation of space to present the
data and images. In the presentation I feel that the use of space could be done more effectively so
that it provides more images and data. While developing a presentation for the next time I will
focus on optimising the space utilisation to develop a presentation. I will also focus on improving
my public speaking skills so that I can make the presentation more viable for the audience to
understand. For this I will improve my communication abilities through continuous interaction
and by taking speaking classes for the next 3 months. This will help me in future during my
interviews and enhance the opportunities to get selected for a job. Along with this it will improve
my ability to communicate with others and achieve a higher position in the professional career.
The presentation abilities will also be helpful to improve my grades in the academics and present
information effectively in field of academics or profession.

on the learnings, skills and knowledge obtained from the module. It has been discussed that
continuous improvement is helpful to achieve higher academic and professional growth. Along
with this, a critical reflection on the presentation which I have prepared regarding the innovation
and technology in construction has been presented. Furthermore, certain aspects have been
discovered such as maximising the use of space, effective speaking etc. that can be helpful to
improve the presentation for the next time. Finally, a personal development plan has been
demonstrated that focus is on plans to develop academic skills and their future implication for
professional career.
