1.0 INTRODUCTION
Academic research and writing plays essential role in the knowledge development of
student or teacher. Regular based practice on academic writing and research supports individual
in upgrading their understanding over the topic accordingly and contributes in their development
(Angélil-Carter, 2014). The present report is mainly divided into two sections in which first one
is related to critical research portfolio and other is about reflective report. In the first section,
detailed description is provided on three main research area a journal article on UBER, research
project provided by The Craft of Research and Virgin Galatico a business case study. In this,
overall description revolves around interesting facts determined by investigator about these three
areas and it is supportive for the authors in their development. While, on the other hand, the
second section of the project will develop reflective report which will include information on
how current project has contributed in the growth and development of individual's skill and
areas.
2.0 PART 1 CRITICAL RESEARCH PORTFOLIO
2.1 Found interesting about the research items
Chapter from Craft
The overall research item is highly interesting as it provides detailed information on
research and how it is being conducted and executed by investigator effectively. It also aware
about some of the important but interesting facts which are required to be considered by
investigator at the time of conducting research on the basis of their chosen topic (Babcock and
Thonus, 2018).
Virgin Galatico
It is one of the interesting business case studies which depicts new innovative initiative
taken by business for serving customers and generating high level of revenue from them. In this,
it has been determined that business owner of Virgin Galatico have sold many tickets to the
people and charged them with higher amount in the exchange of the promise that they will be
taken to the trip to space nearby external boundary of earth. Even though the company has sold
all tickets and generated higher revenue from the customers but still have not fulfilled their
promise associated to taking to the trip (Birley and Moreland, 2014).
Journal Article UBER

Its deeply expressed knowledge on relationship between gig economy worker and
businesses have made it more interesting. Along with this, it has also provided detailed
knowledge on the issue that would raise for Gig workers after incorporation of UBER works.
2.2 Why interesting

The chosen research project specially focused on chapter one is very important as well as
interesting because it has contributed in exploring all the essential element which are mandatory
to be included in research (Chang and Swales, 2014). Also, it provides knowledge on some
tactics that directly supports in expressing overall information associated with the research in
most effective manner.
Virgin Galatico
This is interesting for the researcher as it has aware investigator about the cheat kind of
activity incorporated by businesses. Along with this, initiative taken by company for influencing
interest of customers towards them is another interesting fact related to the same.

The chosen research item is highly interesting as it provides knowledge new launch of
UBER that will provide new platform to workers to get instant job without any sort of bond or
any other kind of restriction. On the other hand, it has also provided support to businesses to
approach temporarily workforce which will contribute in executing their work in quicker
manner.
2.3 How useful for studies/ development

Development of detailed information associated with the research directly provides exact
guidance to researcher with the support of which they can conduct effective research in the near
future. In addition to this, with reference to the development zone it can be said that development
knowledge on research is helpful for them in enhancing their personal skill and knowledge that
contributes in the attainment of future professional goals in quicker manner (Flowerdew, 2014).

Knowledge developed by going through this business case study is very important as
firstly it has supported in developing knowledge on the new things taking place in business zone.
At next, it has also informed learner about new experiences related to space trip which are

available for customers that can be easily experienced by them by paying higher amount in the
form of buying tickets for the same event.

The chosen journal article is supportive in the present study as information presented in
this is somehow related to the topic only. In addition to this, this developed knowledge will also
support scholar in attaining higher scores in their coursework (Hartas, 2015).

3.1 First key point
Chapter from Craft
It provides detailed information on how research is conducted on the topic for attaining
concluded information over it.
Virgin Galatico
The respected case study initially stated that the company has revenue generated by
selling tickets to the customers in the exchange of promise that they will be taken to the space
trip in the future (Lillis, 2014).
Journal Article UBER
At first, it has been analyzed that UBER is taking several initiative to expand its market
presence by entering into different areas.
3.2 Second key point
Chapter from Craft
It shows that all research are initiated on particular issue or research problem that is
noticed by investigator and because of this only they have started research.
Virgin Galatico
At the second level, it points out that current position of company is in losses which
states that there are higher chances that they would not be able to execute their plan for which
they have charged higher amount from customers (Van Manen, 2016).

Second key point of this journal article is that UBER Works will going to be an effective
medium by which businesses as well as workers will able to communicate to one another. Along

with this, it would be easier for both the parties to fulfill their requirement by approaching one
another on the basis of the need.
3.3 Third key point

The third key point determined from this project is that internet plays an essential role in
gathering information related to the subject or research problem so that they could be addressed
on the particular time frame.
Virgin Galatico
The third most key point of this project is that the company has still not implemented
plan of space trip for customers. This shows the cheat act taken place from company's side which
comes under unethical practice (Quinlan and et. al., 2019).

The third most key of the article on UBER Works represents that the initiative taken by
UBER in terms of providing common platform to both worker and businesses so that they
communicate with one another is only beneficial for businesses not for the gig economy workers.
4.0 PART 2 REFLECTIVE REPORT
4.1 What is learnt from the module?
By going through the overall experiences related to this module I have gone through
range of experiences which have made me learnt many things. The main learning developed with
this module is related to research skill, analytical skill, reading, communication etc. In the
overall, it can be said that the overall module have supported me in developing my personal
academic as well as professional skill that will not only support me in scoring higher grades but
will also provide me support in attaining success in quicker manner.
4.2 Why that learning might be important?
Learning related to research skill is important in conducting more research in future.
Whereas, effective command on analytical skill states that I can effectively analyze all chosen
articles in detailed manner and select most required information associated with the my own
research topic. In the overall, it can be said that effective development of all academic skill will
allow me attaining my personal, academic as well as professional goals in quicker manner.

4.3 How useful to you and your areas of interest?
By analyzing overall learning developed with the same it can be said that it is useful for
me as I am researching on many topics and analysis whole information associated with the
module topic. In addition to this, it has been determined that it is associated with my own area of
interest because as being a learner I always wanted to develop my skills as well as knowledge in
order to score higher grades.
CONCLUSION
From the above mentioned report it has been determined that academic research is
determined as the important zone of learning which aware individual about the most important
areas on which individual should develop their knowledge for attaining success in quicker
manner. In addition to this, it can be said that reflective writing also helps individuals in
improving their learning by assessing themselves only in detailed manner.
