INTRODUCTION
Academic research and writing is mainly associated with evidence based writing to convey
and represent an idea, argument and opinion in a more effective way to get engage in scholarly
conversation (Ward and et. al., 2020). The three research item selected for current assignment
consists of sample method from the book “The craft of Research Book Phenomenological
Research Methods from a journal and international supply chain from a case study.
Part 1
The current assignment is based on evaluation of key importance and reflective outline of
research items that are necessary are required for overall development and professional growth
of an individuals (Chen and Flowerdew, 2018). Three research items selected for current
research work from which one is taken from textbook, one from journal and the last one on a
case study are provided below:
1) The craft of Research Book- Sample method is selected as research item
It is a book written by Wayne C. Booth, Gregory G. Colomb, Joseph M and some other
authors the main aim of which is providing a better information to individuals about the how an
effective research work is conducted and crafted. The research item that is sleeted from chapters
of this book for current research is Sample method. It has been evaluated about sample method
from reading of this book that there are various types if sampling that consist of probability and
non-probability sampling method(Cumming, Lai and Cho, 2016). It has been also observed that
use of simple random method is most suitable and viable to select respondents as it eliminates
the chances of biasness and favouritism from research work (Quinlan and et. al. 2019). The
selected research item is found interesting as it yields better information about the sample
method and its various type that how could a research can perform a research work in more
effective way through selecting limited number of observation for investigation. The three key
points of this research items that are reflecting its importance are as follows:
 Better development of information to conduct a successful research work through leading
selection of most prominent and viable observation for a research (Wallwork, 2016).
 Enhanced knowledge about various types of sampling method that can be chosen to by a
researcher to complete investigation in more effective and better way.

 Improvement in research skills and other analytical competencies that lead to better
professional and business development (Neubauer, Witkop and Varpio, 2020).
2) Journal on Phenomenological Research Methods
This journal (link provided in reference list) was written by Brian E. Neubauer, Catherine
T. Witkop & Lara Varpio, 2019 which consists of information about How phenomenology can
help us learn from the experiences of others that provides outlines of investigative journeys are
lead to valid knowledge to perform or conduct a research work. The research item selected from
this journal is Phenomenological research method that is basically a type of qualitative research
method based on study of an individual life experience which is the most interesting part of this
research item (Chen and Flowerdew, 2018). It has been evaluated on the basis of this journal the
use of qualitative research method is appropriate for conducting an investigation when a detailed
and in-depth information is needed to reach a suitable conclusion and decision making. The thing
that is interesting and attracted towards this research item is that it provide a deep knowledge and
understanding about interpretation of experience of human life to develop better experience and
path goals. Three key points of information and arguments that is yielding and reflecting its
importance:
 Lead to better knowledge about research strategies and approach that ensures deep
understanding about qualitative methods and methodologies (Cumming, Lai and Cho,
2016).
 Ensures a better tool and way to collect more in-depth information and perceptive of
respondents to develop new theories.
 Improvement in knowledge about most suitable research method that could be used by a
researcher to conduct more in-depth and better investigation on a research topic to
develop better understanding about the research work (Pham, Darabi and Wilmot, 2020).
3) Case study on International supply chain
The research item selected from the case study (Link provided in reference list)
conducted by Pham, T.S.H., Darabi, F. and Wilmot, N.V., 2020, is International supply chain. It
has been evaluated from this case study that with the concept of globalisation the complexity in
management of supply chain is also enhancing due to increase in geographical distance. The
interesting point about this selected research items is that it facilitates a better evaluation and
understanding of successful global firms like Samsung and Tesco efforts to properly organize

and manage their supply chain activities at an international level (Pohl, 2019). This case study
also lead to better understanding about impacts lead by globalization that consists of enhanced
competition level and better opportunity to grow. The three main points of information that
represents the importance of selected research item based on International supply chain are as
follows:
 Develop better understanding about the concept of globalisation and its impact and
implication on a global organisation (Ward and et. al., 2020).
 Lead to enhanced information about the issues and challenges faced by an organisation
while management of supply chain at global level (Pham, Darabi and Wilmot, 2020).
 Lead to enhanced knowledge about the ways and skills that can be used by an
organisation or individuals to maintain an effective international supply chain that consist
of proper risk management and monitoring of global supply chains.
The information that is gained through these case study and journal and chapter of book
would lead to better knowledge about various aspects of research and sampling methods thus,
helpful for studies. Further, enhanced knowledge about globalization and supply chain is also
lead thus, ensures better professional and personal development (Sword, Sorrenson and Ballard,
2019). The current modules lead to enhance knowledge and practical and managerial skills thus,
crucial for overall personal and professional development.
Part 2
Reflective outline
The current module and assignment is very effective for my learning process that has
enhanced by knowledge and also lead to better development of my professional and personal
skills.The knowledge that is gathered from these research items are provided below:
Sample method- It has been learnt by me that for completion of a research on time use of
sample method is made to select a pre determined number of units from a larger population
(Sword, Sorrenson and Ballard, 2019). Further, I also got to know that use of random sampling
method is most suitable to remove biasness from research method to reach a fair and authentic
conclusion.
Phenomenological (or qualitative) Research Methods- I had learnt from this journal that
Phenomenological research method basically provided deep understanding about the life

experience of a human being. Beside this, it has been find out that use of qualitative research
method facilitates a more in-depth information about perspective and view point of an individual
thus, provided a detailed way of conducting a research or investigation (Pohl, 2019).
International supply chain- From this case study it has been learnt by me that
globalisation has enhanced the level of supply chain complexity for organisation like Samsung
and Tesco as they get better growth opportunity to expand their business operation at diversified
nation. Further, it had learnt by me that various risk management strategy and effective
monitoring are implemented by global organisation for better management of their international
supply chain (Pham, Darabi and Wilmot, 2020).
Thus, it can be evaluated that overall this assignment has enhanced my knowledge about
various aspects and lead to my overall growth and development. The information about sample
method is important for me as it lead to enhancement in my research skills and provided a better
way to accomplish and complete a research work in more effective manner through leading more
cost and time effectiveness. Beside this, the knowledge about qualitative research method is also
important and crucial for me as it would help me while gathering data for any resrch as provided
a more effective way and strategy for collection of in-depth information to reach a more valid
and authentic research conclusion. At last, the information about concept of globalisation and
supply chain management is crucial for me as it enhanced my professional and business skills
and lead to better understanding in me to become more competent and capable to handle my
future work and professional task (Pham, Darabi and Wilmot, 2020). Thus, it can be reflected
that overall this module is quite effective for me on developing my overall skills and knowledge
that would lead to better professional and personal development and growth.
Beside this, the current module also ensures better communication and managerial skills
through leading enhanced knowledge about various research methods. My time management
skills are also improved as this module made me able to conduct a work in a more efficient way.
Beside this, enhanced knowledge about crucial aspects are also gained that lead to enhancement
in my analytical and understanding skills for better future opportunity and also beneficial for my
studies and education.
CONCLUSION
On the basis of above assignment it can be concluded that sampling is an effective method
that is used by a researcher to conduct a research in a more cost effective way and to complete it

on time through selecting limited respondents from a large population. Use of qualitative
research method is made to collect in-depth information from respondents to have a detailed
investigation. At last, it can be summarised that globalisation has made supply chain network
more complex thus, effective risk management and monitoring is essential to manage an
international supply chain.
