Introduction:
For any student understanding the details course that he are she is learning and the educational
and professional benefits of that causes is chiefly essential. It will help to identify if the student is
proceeding through a right path or not for his or her future prospect (Dingsøyr et al. 2012).
Macquarie University is a 50 years old educational organization focusing on under graduate and
postgraduate educational development of for student mainly in engineering field. Along with
these, this university also provides graduate, postgraduate courses and research faculties for
social science and law. Currently, Macquarie University has 40,000 students and 2000 staffs to
provide world’s top class educational facilities to the educators as well as to the students.
However, the problem is many students do not read the organisation handbook that can give
adequate ideas about the available course and their benefit as well as the existing code of
conduct. This lack of knowledge usually leads to misconception of educational purpose and
failure in academic as well as professional field.
The aim of this research is to understand the structure and procedure of formal research report
writing while perusing the opportunity to investigate the structure of degree in Information
Technology majoring Software Technology. To achieve these two goals this research has sated
up three basic objectives:
To Analyse the importance of Bachelor Degree from Macquarie University
To Examine the future opportunities for having degree in Information Technology majoring
Software Technology
To identify the basic procedure to reach the maximum potentialities in the selected field of
study with the help of the course structure of the Macquarie University.

Software technology refers the engineering of designing and developing various softwares for
various individual operations or for multipurpose usage. In this era of human civilisation,
software is the soul of every equipment that is used in daily activities. More than 68% of regular
usable equipments need software or firmware to function properly (Liu 2013). The software is
the core operational element that allows the users to communicate with the operating devises and
controlling them. Therefore, increasing utilisation of advanced devices increases the importance
of software development. By 2020, more than 70 % of daily operation will be operated through
software-controlled devices where AI has added essential potentiality (Wasserman and Freeman,
2012). The software engineering course has three levels namely Introduction to the fundamental
concepts of Software engineering, Designing and developmental studies, Advanced
implementation of software engineering.
The learning curve of Software Engineering studies in Macquarie University have been planned
to develop the conceptual knowledge of the students while educating them to implement advance
knowledge in project based environment. The course starts with the introduction to the computer
programming, database management and discrete mathematics. In second level the students
learn data communication, advance discrete mathematics, object oriented programming and
system programming (Macquarie University. 2018). At the final level, the students learn how to
develop a computing industry project professionally, implementing complex and advance
programming knowledge to build multi operational softwares. Throughout these levels, the
students are free to be enrolled in additional short-term courses to learn business operations and
software handling, advanced proficiency for commercial use and others (Choi 2013).

Discussion:
From the qualitative analysis of the secondary research, it can be said that the collected
data are adequate to achieve the research objectives. These collected data have been successfully
achieved the analysing the importance of Bachelor Degree from Macquarie University,
examining the future opportunities for having degree in Information Technology majoring
Software Technology, identifying the basic procedure to reach the maximum potentialities in the
selected field of study with the help of the course structure of the Macquarie University.
Studying and developing sound knowledge about information technology especially in software
development can open wider opportunity for student to get a successful professional designation
(Yigit et al. 2014).
The utilisation of software development as an educational field in modern civilisation is
significant. As an education institute of science and technology Macquarie University provides
various courses to learn advance technologies and implementing the innovative ideas through
research and development. From the discussed course, structure for degree in Information
Technology majoring Software Technology a student can learn all the basic and advance level
concepts and implementable procedures of software, designing, developing and commercialising
(Froyd, Wankat and Smith, 2012). However, being a part of software and information
technology the intervention of communication technology has not been noticed within the course
structure. On the other hand, the planned course structure has made the learning care smooth and
acceptable for any technology enthusiast.
Along with the learning and educatory procedure, ensuring the professional success is another
crucial responsibility of any educational organisation. The large campus size and corporate

partnership allow the students to achieve their desired professional position and remarkable
portfolio. Despite of this internal opportunity, the graduation certificate from Macquarie
University in software engineering provides high potential level and portfolio strength that can
be highly utilisable to get the desired job profile (Jasute et al. 2016). The potential designation
of a graduate student of this university includes Communication systems analysis and analysis
design, Database administrator, End-user support and training, IT or management consultant, IT
sales or marketing, Programmer, Project leader, Systems analyst, Systems development manager
and Systems engineer. The students with also have the potentialities to be hired by many top
quality’s multinational companies like Apple, AT&T Bell Labs, Compaq, Computer Associates,
EDS, Google, Government departments, IBM, Macquarie Bank, Microsoft, Optus, small
business, Sybase and Westpac.
