INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development plan is an approach of identification of skills,
competencies and taking development measures which will help in enhancing the knowledge,
skills and shape the career. Personal professional development helps in identifying strength and
weakness and plan corrective measures which will be helpful in achieving short, medium and
long term goals (Ahmed and Ward, 2016). This project report is based on personal and
professional development. The report aims to define short, medium and long term goals which
are needed to be achieved by the individual and understand the value of personal and
professional development plan. The report will depict a personal and professional development
plan which will be helpful in planning effective strategies will enhance skills and knowledge that
can contribute in development of a person and in identifying various career growth and
employment opportunities.
TASK 1
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Professional development involves learning which will enhance the professional
capabilities and ability to perform effectively in the workplace. Whereas, personal development
is a lifelong process which enhances the skills and qualities of a person while considering the
various short, medium and long term goals and can maximize the potential of a person. In other
words, personal and professional development involves activities which can develop human
capital, improve quality of life and offer better employment opportunity in an individual's entire
life span (Bogomaz, Kozlova and Atamanova, 2015). Personal and professional development
helps in getting better employment opportunities by shaping the career which can be done
through learning and improving skills. Such development activities act beneficiary for good
career growth and help in forming effective decision while performing an assigned work.
SHORT TERM GOALS
The short term goal for personal and professional development involves development of
skills and knowledge, some of these short term goals are depicted below:

 Enhance interpersonal skills and capabilities which can enhance my knowledge.

MEDIUM TERM GOALS
Medium term goals are goals which can fill the gap between the short and long term goas
and such goals are achieved from more times than the short term goals (Choy and Chua, 2019).
The medium term goal for personal and professional development involves:
 Score high marks in semester exams which will be helpful for motivating and increase
potentiality.
 Increase leadership skills and enhance more knowledge and influence other peoples
positively.
 Create a new business plan with a perceptual visual sense.
LONG TERM GOALS
Long term goal are goals which are planned by the individual which needs to be
accomplished in the long term or in near future. The long term goal for personal and professional
development involves:
 To buy a good house and a luxury car.
 To establish a business and use all resources by using effective knowledge to maximize
profitability and operate a successful business.
 To get a degree in business administration degree from a reputed college/ University.
VALUE OF PDP AND PDP PLAN
Personal and professional development plan is a layout which defines career goals and
formulate strategies which will be helpful in meeting the short, medium and long term goals. In
other words, personal and professional development plan is an action plan which depicts the
skills, knowledge and strategies which will be helpful in improving such knowledge and
competencies and meeting the desired goals and objectives (Davies, Curtin and Robson, 2017).
Personal and professional development plan plays a crucial role in enhancing the skills and
knowledge, some of the importance of personal and professional development plans are
discussed below:
