INTRODUCTION
Academic skills are those talents and habits that help in giving advantages to the
academic pursuits like presentation, research and report writing. These types of skills facilitate
an individual in improving its learning approach that not only enhance confidence but also assist
in participating in various curricular as well as non-curricular activities. Academic skills include
academic integrity, critical thinking, academic writing, referencing and many more (Chuang and
et.al., 2018). Within this portfolio, some of the support services will be described that will help
an individual at its academic level or in future employment along with the discussion of method
in which these services will help a person.

Portfolio will require students to collect the information regarding the key services of
universities that can offer them support while they are students. They will be asked to
reflect on when they and/or their peers might access
Support services are the activities that are given to or on behalf of an individual in the
fields of personal development as well as assistance in order to make in an effective human
resource. Such kinds of services encourage the learners in order to become an effective human
resource and also helps it in gaining the confidence. This has also been identified that the skills
as well as capabilities of an individual results in impacting the overall performance of an
individual.
I am a student of university that concentrates on offering various courses and services to
the variety of students. The key objective of joining the university is to enhance the base of
knowledge, skills as well as abilities in order to develop an individual. As I am pursuing this
management course from the university several reasons, first of all I want to gain the theoretical
knowledge regarding the management, next to it, I will improve my skills and knowledge in a
more effective and appropriate manner. The university is providing a lot of services to the
students like healthcare campus, language center, career counselling, networking training as well
as events, student counsellor, training and workshops, gym and many others. These services help
the students in their effective development through developing and improving their skills and
knowledge in order to achieve the desired goals and objectives. At time of pursuing courses from
university, my teachers have taught me about the sources of information that is required in order

to acquire the information from various sources. It is a kind of support service that informs an
individual regarding certain things. For instance, observations, document organisation, speeches
and pictures can be considered as the source of information (McLean, 2018). There are various
sources of information that will help me at my university or in future employment and some of
these sources include encyclopedia, books, newspapers, magazines and library catalogues.
Primary, secondary and tertiary sources are considered as the important sources of information.
The main purpose of this kind of support system is that it will help me in enhancing the base of
my knowledge that will support me in being an effective human resource. This service will also
facilitate me in stirring up with the emotions, entertaining as well as educating the others.
Effective source of information will also play a significant role in acquiring the valid as well as
reliable knowledge regarding a specific topic. It will provide assistance to me through giving
both sides of arguments with the multiple views. These different sources of information will help
me in my future employment in driving the communication within the workplace. And then, the
communication in turn will permit me to work in harmony within the workplace in order to meet
the objectives of that organisation. This will enhance my productivity as well as efficiency and
will help me in my personal development. At university level, primary sources such as research
results, speeches, letters, works of art, documents, etc. facilitates an individual in developing the
skills and knowledge as well as analytical thinking abilities. This will assist in increasing the
overall performance of a person.
I have also developed presentation skills within the university that help an individual in
delivering effective presentation to the target audience. Presentation skills cover multiple areas
such as structure of the presentation, designing of the slides, tone of the voice as well as body
language while conveying the information (Tamis-LeMonda and et.al., 2019). Such kinds of
skills helps in creating innovative and unique ideas when learners or students come up with the
interesting as well as creative slides in order to illustrate and convey their information or talks.
At the level of university, making use of the presentations will help me in developing the level of
my confidence and will also encourage me to make more efforts within my study. Within future
employment, development of presentation skills will facilitate me in learning more about the
various aspects of business (Peters and Romero, 2019). This will also help me in conducting my
way through various people as well as facilitate me in enhancing my ability and capability for

creating my own networks. Through this kind of support service, I will be able to build my
morale and will believe in myself.
Apart from the above discussion, my university has taught me regarding the secondary
research that is very essential while researching the task. It refers to the research in which the
data is already gathered by a person at the time of inverstigation. In context to this aspect, the
university has taught me regarding the reliable as well as authentic sources and the information.
It is very significant to use appropriate sources for the data collection. I should try my best in
order to learn new things to improve myself as well as achieving my goals of career in a proper
way.
.CONCLUSION
From the above explanation of the portfolio, it has been concluded that academic skills
play a crucial part in encouraging and empowering the learners and students in order to make
them effective. These skills consist of the analysis of social, technical, communication, planning
as well as test taking skills. Within this portfolio, three different types of support services have
been explained along with their use as well as importance both at the level of university as well
as in the future employment. These support services help an individual in enhancing the base of
its knowledge and increases the potentiality to learn and acquire more new things in their life.
