academic skills involves communication skills, technical skills, planning, studying for the
particular subject etc. these skills helps the learners to work affectively towards the goals which
they have to achieve. If the individual will not have proper skills and knowledge then they
cannot achieve success in future due to which their future can get spoiled. Every individual has
some dream which they have to achieve in life. If they will have proper academic skills then they
can easily achieve their goals in life. Having the good presentation and communication skills are
important to develop a positive image in the society. In this report various topics will be
discussed like academic writing, referencing, critical thinking with the help of the Gibbs
reflective model (Freire, 2021).
MAIN BODY
Academic writing
Academic writing is a formal style used in universities. It is what students are expected to create
for their classes, and it is what professors and academic researchers use to write academic
materials. In high school, certain classes may require an academic writing style. While specific
requirements may vary depending on the specific format of academic writing or the class and
publication in which the work is made, some characteristics are common to all academic writing.
Academic Lighting features: Formal Tone Academic lighting always uses the Formal Tone.
Don't be blunt and talkative. Accurate Language It is important to choose the correct language
that clearly conveys the author's meaning according to the official tone. Perspective Academic
writing is typically written as a 3rd party POV. This is because its focus is on educating the facts,
not supporting opinions or giving advice. Focus of Research Since most academic writing
involves reporting of research results, it tends to focus on the specific research question being
studied. Organization Academic writing should be organized in a logically straight-forward and
trouble-free way. Use headings to indicate each major section. Citing Sources Most academic
writing contains at least some secondary research sources. All sources should be properly cited,
including references. Academic writing is a writing that conveys ideas, information, and research
to a wider academia. It can be divided into two types: student academic writing used in a form of

evaluation at the university, use at school in preparation for university research; publication of
specialized academic writings, journals and books. It is a work to do. Both types of academic
writing must adhere to the same standards, which can be difficult for students to master.
Academic writing requires a well-defined structure. The structure often derives from the genre
you send. For example, a report contains an introduction a method section contains a discussion
section, and an essay contains an introduction a clear body paragraph containing the subject text.
It is included. Conclusion. Writing should be consistent, logical, and consistent, and the various
parts of the writing should be clearly linked. Careful planning before writing is essential to
ensure that the final product is properly structured with a clear focus and logical evolution of
ideas. Opinions and discussions in academic writing must be supported by evidence. Because
writing is often based on information from experts in the field, it is important to refer to
information appropriately, for example, using body citations and references sections (Shoaib,
2021).
Referencing
Referencing is used to identify books, newspaper articles, and other materials you use when
writing your thesis. It is done by easily referencing the source of your work's text and creating an
alphabetical bibliography that corresponds to the end of your work. Reference is simply
acknowledgment of the source. It is used when creating documents. references should be used
for all sources: books, magazines, magazines, web pages, etc. Through reference, contributions
to the work of other writers and researchers can be acknowledged. The ideas of other writers
include citations in university assignments based on words and research. References are also a
way to give credit to a home that borrows your words and ideas. References helps in getting the
proper information about the particular topic it helps in providing the details about the topic on
which we are writing its also be enhancing the quality of work so that the data and information
can be clearly shown to the user.
Critical thinking
Critical thinking is self-guided and self-disciplined thinking and seeks to reason with the highest
quality in a fair way. People who think critically and consistently try to live with rational
empathy. When they become unchecked, they are acutely aware of the inherently defective
nature of human thought. They are working to undermine the power of egocentric and
sociocentric tendencies. They are using the intellectual tools that critical thinking provides: the

concepts and principles that enable the analysis, evaluation, and improvement of thoughts. They
work diligently to develop pointed virtues such as pointed out honesty, intellectual humility,
intellectual examples, intellectual empathy, intellectual justice and conviction of the opposite
sex. As those who think, they can always improve their ability to reason, no matter how good
they are, and sometimes reasoning is human irrationality, prejudice, prejudice, distortion,
uncritically accepted social rules and taboos. , Selfishness, selfishness, and vested interests. They
strive to improve the world, be more rational and civilized, and contribute to society in all the
ways they can. At the same time they recognize the inherent complexity of doing. Avoid simply
thinking about complex issues and properly consider the rights and needs of others involved.
They recognize the complexity of the process of developing as thinkers and devote themselves to
lifelong practices for self-improvement. They implement the principles of Socrates. An
unreviewed life is not worth living. It turns out to bring an uncritical, unfair, dangerous world to
many unconsidered lives. Critical thinking is a widely accepted educational goal. Its definition is
controversial, but competing definitions can be understood as other concepts of the same basic
concept: a cautious accident towards a goal. The concept is that the scope of such accidents, the
type of goal, the criteria and norms for careful accidents, depend on the accident factors they
concentrate on (Johnson, 2021). Respect for student autonomy and encourage recruitment as an
educational goal based on which students can be successful in life and prepare for democratic
citizenship. A “critical thinker” has the guiding temperament and ability to think critically at the
appropriate time. The ability can be ascertained directly. The temperament indirectly considers
which factors contribute to or hinder the exercise of the ability.
Gibbs reflective model
This model helps the learner to think systematically about the experiences they have gained
during the particular situation or activity its helps the learner to enhance their skills and
knowledge which they have gained so that their overall development can take place. Overall
development of the individual will take place if they different confidence about the particular
task which is assigned to them. During the learning phase there are various experiences which is
gained by the individual so that they can perform more effectively in the future. In every
experience person learn a new thing which helps in developing the growth chances of the
individual. Reflection is a term that describes an individual's overall development and self-
esteem. It helps individuals analyze the specific areas where improvement is needed more.

Personal development increases an individual's level of self-confidence and helps them work
more efficiently. There are various stages of gaining new experiences that allow individuals to
perform their assigned tasks efficiently, and there are also some weaknesses that individuals need
to analyze so that they can be improved in a proper time period. This is the ideal model type with
isolated reflections. Below are the six steps which are involved in Gibbs model (Grayson, 2020).
Description- Individuals cannot arrive at effective conclusions and prefer to categorize on
appropriate situations, events, and actions at this point. It asks several important questions: what
happened, who participated, what other activities you did, and the consequences of what you did.
These aspects represent when my learning experience in the classroom. While learning about the
different topics in the class i have understand the use academic writing properly as it helps in
enhancing the overall work of the individual. Academic writing aims to convey information in a
fair manner. This section gives an overview of the event. This requires one of the smallest parts
of the reflection. Include important details that indicate what happened. The reason for joining
was what they did, who was there, and what they did. It's important to include the information
you need to understand the case, but the important point here is to keep it easy. The goal is to
assert based on the evidence you are considering, not on the author's prejudice. All claims should
be backed up with relevant evidence. Writing a content properly is important to present your
views more effectively infront of the other it will also help in developing my growth chances. I
have also studied about the referencing it is a way of recognizing the sources of information used
in assignments, reports, and treatises. It includes ideas, theories, citations, facts and numbers, as
well as original other-made artwork and charts i need to focus more on referencing as it should
be relevant to the topic. And i also need to focus on critical thinking. Critical thinking skills help
us understand and assess the situation based on all the facts and information available.
Information, data, and facts can be arranged side-by-side with the help of critical thinking
techniques to define and solve problems. Discussing in interviews and including them in your
resume already possesses a variety of critical thinking skills that you can strive to develop.
Thinking critically, it improves communication and allows people with different skills to
approach problems to share their expertise and assess its effectiveness. Critical thinking requires
a good assessment of the situation and a multi-faceted view of the problem in order to make the
feedback of others an integral part of the work process.
Document Page
Feelings- At this stage, I will analyze my situation to cover more feelings and confirm my skill
set. It reflects my emotional response to investigate the skill set experience based on analysis.
This reflects the proper placement of actions to improve my referencing and critical thinking
skills because using the correct referencing helps in providing you the correct content regarding
the work so that data cannot be affected. using the correct sources is important to enhance the
quality of the assigned project. using the critical thinking helps in providing the positive ideas so
that quality of the content can be enhanced. If i am completing any project then it can be
according to the quality so that content can be properly understood by the user. If the user will
not get the proper content then they cannot be able to get the information properly which is
written in the project (Phillips Galloway, 2020).
Evaluation-The stage will show you a good assessment of your overall experience for a good
approach, and this event will show you how to implement a good assessment and show your
good contributions. The evaluation section gives you the opportunity to explore what was good
about the event and what did not go so well. It is important that you try to consider both the good
and the bad, even if the incident seemed totally negative or positive. This includes what others
did or didn’t do well. This step also reflects my sense of good and bad experience, based on my
value judgment. While the lectures i have identified my strength and analysed my weak areas
which i need to improve so that i can perform more effectively in the future i need to work on my
referencing and critical thinking skills so that i can complete the assigned task more effectively
in the future. During the lectures i have analysed that critical thinking is very important to make
people understand your views by looking at my teacher he was explaining the things very
effectively and making us understand about the concept.
Analysis- In this stage i will discuss about the experience which i had when i was taking my
lectures i was having a knowledge of team work as i have work in a team before but when my
teacher ask me to give a presentation in class i was not able to present my views properly
because i was not having the proper critical thinking due to which i was not able to connect the
ideas which affected my task which was given to me. Also i was not able to complete the assign
task on with proper referencing Due to which i need to focus on referencing and critical thinking
so that i can achieve my goals properly in future. This section is where you make sense of the
event and should be the largest section of your reflection. It is useful at this point to take all the
issues that you have highlighted previously in the reflection and consider them separately.

Conclusion- Based on the overall concluding skill set i have strong command over the academic
writing which helps in making my work more attractive by involving new ideas in it but at the
same time i need to work on two other skills also which is discussed above to improve my
overall skill set it. if i will develop my various skills then it will help in achieving my targets in
the short period of time. Development in the individual is very important to become successful in
life. Success can be achieved by proper skills and knowledge which the individual will have skill
help in developing the positive image of the individual in the marketplace. if i will work in any
organisation in the future i need to have talent so that i can present my positive aspect to the
people so that i can get attracted by it and if i will not have the any talent or skills then i will not
able to influence the other people.
Personal Action Plan- This is the final step in the Gibbs model, which reflects my appropriate
personal action plan. This gives you proper direction to improve your overall planning of career
growth and skills. It will increase your chances of more job opportunities at the very big. In this i
will present various skills which i need to improve to achieve my goals. This section suggests a
plan for if this event or a similar event occurs again, taking into account the factors before the
cycle. Do you want to keep the the same or do it differently. This is the end of a particular
reflection in the last section of the cycle. Therefore, if something similar happens in the future, it
is important to revisit the cycle rather than think it has already been processed and there is an
answer (Schaeper, 2020).
Present skills I have strong academic writing skills which
will helps in enhancing my work in the future
because in any organisation proper writing
skills is very important to achieve the overall
targets of the business
Skills which should be improved I need to improve my referencing and critical
thinking skills
Future goals I will enhance my skills through the helps of
various sources like my teachers and taking
helps of different online platforms.
Appropriate action plan I will try to accomplish these goals in 6
months.
