Academic skills are the individual quality, strategies or habits which help student to grow
better. They are beneficial as they increase individual's productivity and success. Skills are
ability to use own knowledge effectively. They help you to be more focused or motivated
towards your goal. Here we will discuss about the different skills and its importance for the
academic success. How these skills will contribute towards the individual growth? Will also
discuss about the importance of skills in evidence based research (Barry, and et. al.,2018).
MAIN BODY
Mainly the skills required by students are Communication skills involve listening,
speaking, understanding while observing activity then sharing your reviews on it. These are the
abilities you use when receiving or delivering different kinds of information. This may include
phone conversation, face-to-face conversation, and digital conversation include social media or
mails. Writing skills is the student ability to put down their thoughts into meaningful words or
sentence. To be a strong writer you should have clarify planning plotting, sentence structure,
grammar skills or communication skills. One should have good standard writing skills to
complete their assignments or projects. Soft skills are also known as core skills or common skills
(Alyahyan and Düştegör, 2020). They mainly include interpersonal skills directly reflects your
behaviour towards co-students, social skills individual communicating power or willingness and
positive attitude means confident about what they working on. These are equally important for
overall growth of the student. These skills improve ability for individual's. Reading is the process
of taking sense or meaning of letters, symbol be touching or just sight. When you read, you use
your eyes to understand the written symbols and then use your brain to process or identify words
meaning to communicate with others. Critical thinking is the way to think rationally not just
accepting the given sentence, need to understand why & what it should actually be. It is done by
using own thoughts and taking help through research. Time management is the ability to use one
time effectively to complete the proper task. It is done to improve the quality of working in short
duration (Maatuk,and et. al., 2022).
Importance of these listed skills are described below. First the good communication skills
allow individuals or others to understand information or topics more accurately or quickly as
poor communication may lead to miscommunication between co-helpers, irritation or frustration.
It is the basis for co-ordination between students. Next is importance of writing skills is it helps

to cherish own ability to explain and convert your ideas to deliver the others. Good writing skills
directly improves student’s communication skills and power to speak with confidence in public.
Good writing skills boost your self-esteem. Importance of soft skills for students is it act as a
foundation for building good relationship with co-students and teachers. These are important to
build relationships and trust. It will help your hard skills to shine as it helps you to coordinate or
collaborate more and more to become more effective (Meza, and et. al., 2019). Basically reading
improves your mental power of thinking. It is advised to students to read more and more to
improve communication or their vocabulary. Reading reduce stress of students, help them to
advance their knowledge, also improves creativity and imagination power. Importance of critical
thinking is it enables students to better express their thoughts and ideas. It helps you understand
yourself more accurately and wisely. It also helps you to avoid the negativity around students,
make them focus more towards their strength and do decision making towards effectiveness.
Importance of time management is it improves your work potential, reduce stress as work is
completed on time, boost your self-confidence and make you more efficient (Malik, and R.S.,
2018).
Role of various skills for improving higher education of students are first the
communication skills, academic success is directly depending on students communicating power
which increase their ability to make friends and discuss their views. Importance of writing skills
is it is a great way to teach or express own views, also help teacher to connect with your thought
s more appropriately. Done by not repeating words, writing without grammatical errors or try to
write in active form of verb (Hora, and M.T., 2019). Reading importance to high school students
is it improve their focus and memory to remember the words or sentence they have read with
integrating its meaning in brain. Its improves their mental health and give them path to
understand their interest. Soft skills importance is it helps students to communicate, with strong
soft skills, high school students can communicate effectively with mentors which increase the
chance of academic success. It also enhances the leadership quality. Creative thinking
importance for students is its improve their problem-solving as it provides them to think vital for
the problem. Provides them satisfaction for the work/projects they are doing. Helps to give them
sense on topic on which they are working by answering what, when, why for the given
topic/project (Hazan Liran, B. and Miller, 2019). Time management helps students to achieve
their goals faster as it helps them to learn or complete their topics before time so you will get

time for revision and can lead to achieve higher goals. It will also decrease the laziness of
students which may lead to delay. done by guiding students to convert their task into short tasks
and pre scheduling by providing flexible time limits (Widana, and et. al., 2018).
CONCLUSION
Academic skills enable the high school students to live motivated and successful life. These
include personal skills and academic skills that is needed by every individual student to live a
productive life. These skills help in improving mental well-being and competence in high school
students. Importance of teaching these skills to students are the will improve their effective
communication, critical thinking, creativity and how to rationally take life decisions. These skills
including communication skills, reading skills, writing skills, time management, creative
thinking and soft skills help them to cope with their everyday problems. These skills help in
proper social, mental, and emotional development of students. Also contribute towards the
individual growth of students.
