Challenges with regard to academic skills
I want to share my experience regarding academic skills and education in which I was
lacking behind. From self-evaluation and while studying, I came to know that I am lacking
behind in time management skills. We were given number of projects that we needed to
complete within 20 days, and I was the one who submitted projects on 22nd day. At that time, I
realised the importance of time management skill and it increased frustration. So, it was the main
challenge that I faced while studying (Van Rooij, Jansen and van de Grift, 2018). Along with
this, I also found that I was having fear in speaking in front of people when I was asked to
participate in group discussion. It also lowers my confidence and made me depressed.
Learned academic skills
In regard to academic skills, I can say that it refers habits that benefit academic pursuit and
career development. There are number of skills that I learned while studying such as:
communication, decision making, research and development, planning, problem solving and
team working. In regard to team working and planning, I can say that team working skills
increase our knowledge and improves our relations with others. With proper planning, we can
perform our tasks in an effective manner. Communication as well as research skills also make us
able in gathering appropriate information related to specific topic. Overall, I can say that all these
learned skills can help me out in becoming successful in chosen career.
Application of learned academic skills in health and social care
On the basis of above discussion, I can say that I have learned number of academic skills
and I can apply these skills in my future career of health and social care. I can apply team
working and communication skill. In regard to health and social care, I can say that working in
multidisciplinary team is important. As a social care, we need to work in multidisciplinary team
as it increases our knowledge and it can help me out in providing qualitative care to clients
(Soukup and et.al., 2018). Along with this, I can apply communication and decision-making skill
in solving complex problems and in deciding about better care as per the clients' needs. Overall, I
can say that academic skills can help me out in becoming successful as a social care provider.
Ways of increasing skills for career development
On the basis of above discussion and my personal experience, I can say that I am lacking
behind in time management and public speaking skills that I need to develop (Lejeune, Beausaert
