INTRODUCTION
Academic skills are very important for learner, it is made up of core skills such as
presentations, academic writing and referencing which underpin more difficult skill such as
reflective practice & critical thinking as well. The current study is based on four different tasks,
first will explain personal and professional development concept, value of short term aims and
also discuss value of medium term aims. It will describe value of long term aims and value of
personal development plan. Furthermore, this assignment will justify purpose, reliability, author
and relevance affect on use of sources. The last task will clarify evaluation of eight sources will
utilized in report plan.
TASK 1
Concept of personal & professional development
Professional development refers to learning process that helps to maintain or earn
professional credentials such as academic level of formal coursework. It helps applicants
continue to not only be competent in their profession, but also stand out in it (Kennedy, 2016).
While personal development is lifelong procedure, it is the best way for individual to
assess their abilities and qualities, consider their smart goals in life and set aims in order to
increase and realize their potential.
Value of short term goals at lest 3 personal aims
Short term aims are valuable for everyone, it increases procrastination, they lay down a
defined and clear path to success either professional or personal (Godward, Dale and Smith,
2019). It helps person to focus on specific thing at a time which they need to achieve. There are 3
examples of personal aims-
The first aim is to build daily routine or schedule.
Second personal aim is to enhance communication practices.
Third personal goal is to build confidence level
Value of medium term aims
Medium term personal goals are also important and value for individual as it offers the
best of worlds as long enough to make important progress while short term that person is not a
completely different from other by time they achieve aim.
The first medium personal aims of applicant is to develop interpersonal skills.

It is procedure of establishing objectives and aims person needs to achieve in effective
manner. It is long termed process, constantly reviewed those goals to facilitate ongoing
employability through developing working abilities and needed knowledge. The personal
development plan is consist with all degree of aims discussed above like short, medium and long.
It has several key elements such as self discovery, smart aims, periodic evaluations and
continuous development plan evaluation.

Describes how Purposes, Author, Relevance and Reliability affect the use of a source.
Author - Who is the author of you source is the basis of your research. The author must be
relevant to the field of your research; also the author must not be on that position by any kind of
fake degree.
Purpose - The first step before evaluation of your source is to evaluate the purpose of the result
(Pickard, L and et.al., 2017). For example, if you started the research of an academic purpose,
then there is a requirement of Reliability and relevance.
Reliability - For verifying the reliability of a source can be determined by two ways, the first one
is recency and the second one is verifiability. This is necessary because the authenticity and
reliability of the source change with time.
Relevance - For this the target source or audience must be relevant for your research. The
research you are doing must be reliable so as to make your research trustful.

It has been concluded from the study that academic skills are crucial from a learner
perspective. It involves core skills such as academic writing, referencing and presentation. It has
been summarized that personal development is important for an individual as it helpful for
