This report examines the role of personal development planning (PDP), starting with definitions of personal and professional development. It explores the value of short, medium, and long-term goals, providing personal examples for each. INTRODUCTION
The present study will help to determine the importance of personal development
planning and describe how author, purpose, reliability affect the use of sources. Along with this,
study will evaluate the eight sources.
TASK 1
Concept of personal and professional development
Personal development comprises of those activities which help to develop person’s
capabilities and enhance the quality of life throughout their life (Bean and et.al., 2018). So it is a
process that helps to assess life goals and assist to meet objectives. Whereas, Professional
development is all about improving skills that helps to meet the organization’s objectives
(Booher and Gunn, 2020). Its approached are consultation, mentoring and technical assistance.
Value of short term-goals
Short term goals are those which an individual want to accomplish soon and it does not
require too much time to attain the goal (Capaccioni, 2020). Through this, individual will not
only get motivated but also helps to increase productivity by focusing upon long term goal. The
three examples are:
 Improve the communication skills during 1 weeks
 Improve work-life balance within a week
 Read a page of a books within a day
Medium term goals
It takes a bit longer time than a short term goal and can be attained within a month or
next 2 week. It acts as a bridge between short and long term goal (Feder, 2018). Like

 To score 80% in Mathematics during Half year exam.
 Increase confidence within next 3 weeks

Long term goals
Long term goals are something which an individual want to attain in future and it takes
more than year to accomplish the same (Qing, 2020). These are important for career which last
whole year. Examples are
 Learn a new technology to become a business analyst within 1 year
 To develop strong leadership skills within next 1 year
 Achieve promotion
Value of personal development plan (PDP)
PDP helps to build the current skills and an individual is able to attain new heights in
their career. Through this, one gets a clear idea about personal vision and sharpens the existing
skills (Importance of personal development plan, 2020). On the other side, it also helps to drive
motivation and satisfaction among individuals. For example,

Author, purpose, reliability and relevancy affect the use of sources because it tests the
objective dependability of information sources across theoretical restraint. There are vast
numbers of sources available and to choose the best and suitable for the study, such key aspects
have been taken into account (Ian and et.al., 2019 ). Also, it is necessary to use trustworthy
sources because spectators always expect to have a supported assertions with credible evidence
and this in turn also provide effective results which provide accurate data. Ob the other side,
through relevance of the source, researcher considers the importance of information for the
study. This key aspect answers the research question and also derive valid outcome as well.
On the other side, purpose can be examined through the title of the source which is valid
for the study which research is conducted or not. Lastly, if the selected article does not reflect the
author name, it means that the relevancy of the source is not determined and it is not considered
valid for the chosen study as well. Hence,

Through the above it has been concluded that personal and professional development
