Academic skills are very helpful in develop my personal and improving
overall performance. This can be describe as the skills that is required by a
student to successfully start their high education as well as achieve desired
grades in academic courses. There are several types of academic skills such
as communication skills, time management skills, research skills and many
more. All of these skills will help in presenting ideas in better and effective
manner. By developing these skills I will be able to create better academic
strategies so that I can successful attain objectives. Academic skills help in
enhancing the capability of a student to learn fast as well as understand the
concept very clearly. Academic strategies are very crucial as this skill will
essential for understanding the critical lectures as well as responding to
them in better and effective manner. I have analysed that composition skills
will lead to have significant impact over effective academic writing capability
of a person. Where as comprehension skills can be used for understanding
academic text as well as lectures so that student can gain better score in its
academic preparation and improve their potential. While studying in Higher
education I have to develop various academic skills so that I can gain better
marks in my course. Through this academic course I have developed my skills
and capabilities as well as learn different things. Due to this I have
determined how to use references, paraphrasing, notes taking and so on. All

of these are very effective for enhancing my skill and capabilities. Through
this different ways and techniques are determined that will support in
growth and development of career and accomplished desired goals.
University has provided various resources and it is crucial to understand how
these resources needs to be used in order to gain maximum benefits. I have
analysed how to use university libraries as well as rules of university
regarding libraries and its other resources.
What have I learnt from the session:
Through this session I have developed my skills and capabilities by learning
different tools and techniques. This session is very helpful in providing
complete guidelines and direction on different topic that is necessary for
academic courses. In this information regarding different topics are provided
such as references, notes taking, paraphrasing, presentation, plagiarism and
many more.
This session helped in enhancing knowledge about how to use search
techniques in order to find more accurate and relevant data. It is essential to
understand how reliable information can be collected as well as use correct
references sources in the appropriate referencing. References can be
describe as the technique of providing citation from relevant book are
articles in order to provide source of information. This is very helpful in
making data more authentic and accurate. There are different styles of
references such as APA which is known as American psychological
Association, Modern Language Association, Harvard style, Chicago and many
more. Through this session I have analysed that common error in referencing
are due to incorrect placement of commas and period, orphan in text

citations or making unnecessary citation. This error will affect the effective
referencing.
Presentation refer as the presenting or communicating ideas in front of other
people. This involve speaking in order to make point clear or share
information with group of people. Presentation consist of visual aid which
includes slides, whiteboard, flip charts and so on. University has provided
different resources such as books, classrooms, activity areas, library and
many other resources. It is crucial to use these resources collect and follow
guidelines of university while using these resources. I have learn to
paraphrase in correct manner. Paraphrasing skills is very useful in rewriting
text or words in new and different manner. Through this session I have
learned lots of new things and this learning will be very supportive in
enhancing my performance.
How could I use what I have learnt in my studies and career:
These learning is very supportive in improving my capabilities and skills. It si
essential to use this learning in my studies as well as career. This will be very
helpful in accomplishing desired goals and objectives. By understanding
references and its different styles I will be able to use correct and
appropriate sources of information as well as make information more
accurate. There are different ways through which referencing can be done
and after gaining complete information about referencing I will be able to
done referencing in effective manner. This will lead to develop my skills and
techniques in order to find more relevant and accurate sources. This will be
very supportive in my career as well. By enhancing presentation skills I will
