INTRODUCTION
Academic skills are defined as talent or habits which benefit the academic chase such as
report writing, research and presentation. It also include an analysis of communication, planning,
social, technological and test taking abilities. The academic skills play vital role in encouraging
students and make them better students (Johannsen, Meise and Leue, 2021). This report will be
based on the concept of note taking, reliable and non reliable source, referencing and
paraphrasing. This report will also discuss about plagiarism and main factors of the presentation
skills.
Note taking: what and why
This practice helps in recording different information from various sources. Ability of the
note taking enable the writer to keep a record of the all information. Note taking ability also
include with the writing practice with the support of the reading information. There are various
types of note taking inclining outline, visual and corell. Outline and visual note taking are mainly
based on fast front which prove very helpful for a learner later. Main aim of the note taking is to
boost the activity leaning and prepare exam for the material (Lin, Lee and Bhargavi, 2022).
Through note taking ability, student become enable to organize different information or data
which help them in future. Main methods of the note taking are sentence methods, mapping
methods, cornell methods and charting method. All methods of note taking are mainly based on
various techniques and principles to make the notes. Different themes, short stories and outdoor
trips are significant fun activities which play a significant role to record an essential information.
Source of the information ( the reliable & non- reliable) what and why?
Information is described as a source for somebody, source of the information is that thing
which inform an individual about any specific things. Document organisations, speeches of
people, observation and pictures cant act as source of the information. Library catalogues,
encyclopedia, newspaper, books and magazines are signification source of the information.
Primary, secondary and tertiary are most significant source of the information. Main purpose of
source of the information is to enhance knowledge, entertain and educate others and to stir up with
the emptions. An effective information's source is very significant as it help to gain valid and

reliable knowledge about any specific topic. Source also play a vital role in providing both side of
the arguments with various views (McMillan, 2022). Furthermore, reliable source of the
information play a significant role in developing an effective communication between individuals,
the reliable information's sources mention name of the authors with an accurate information,
whereas, non reliable information's source does not use any author's name. Broken links, poor
designs spelling and grammar are non- reliable source of the information.
Referencing & paraphrasing: what? Why and How to the reference are based on the Harvard style
Referencing is that procedure which help in acknowledging other work and original
information's source. Referencing acknowledge an authentic source. There are mainly two
elements of reference as bibliography and in- text citation. Harvard referencing style uses the
reference mainly in two place in a writing piece: in text and in respective reference list in ending
In general, every author's name which seem in text must also appear in reference list, and all work
in reference list essential to be referred to on main text. Here are few examples of the Harvard

Plagiarism is considered as an unethical practice in which individual use other's work and
ideas with won name. The plagiarisms is a presentation of other's work and thoughts as own
words without any consent of other person and a proper acknowledgement (Moudud-Ul-Huq,
2021). Four different kinds of plagiarism are mosaic plagiarism, self- plagiarism, the accidental
plagiarism and direct plagiarism. There are various methods which can help an author in avoiding
any information such as this is very significant to keep a track of the source in research.
Paraphrase or Quote the text with own ideas can aid in avoiding from a plagiarism practice.
Plagiarism can also be avoided by giving credit to the real author with a reference list & in text
citation. By using plagiarism examiner such as Grammarly and Turnitin are significant software
which can help in avoiding from plagiarism.
Presentation skills: main factors
The presentation skills are types of the abilities which help in delivering and effective and
engaging presentation to target audience. Presentation skills play a vital role when covering
different areas including presentation's structure, voice note, design and presentation's language.
Focused on audience and great body language are significant presentation skills. Main factors I
the presentation skill include planning, preparation, consistency, practice and performance.
Planning include the amount of time giving to per audience members. In this the amount or
required time is decided (Wu and Nian, 2021). Another factors is preparation in which it include
an understanding of audience's need, brainstorming of topics from their perspective and
structuring a supportive decision. Third factors is consistency in which supportive media of the
images, colour and font adds elan to a message.. fourth factor is practice, in this its is more than
the reading out a script few times. It is mainly concerned with structured and specific. At last, filth
factors is performance, which is about an engagement with audience, reacting to the issues and
being real. All these are valued more highly than being word perfect and hidden behind any
lectern.
