INTRODUCTION
Academic goal refers to the educational objectives which is to be carried by the person in
respect of setting some goal for themselves. The goal can be long terms and short term. In
context of short terms goal, it mainly related to the goal which is set for short time period such as
understanding the specific topic or getting higher score and in case of long term goal, it mainly
related to be achieved for the longer time period (Friel, 2018). The importance of the academic
goal is that it helps the student to enhances their skills and knowledges regarding pertaining to
particular activity and gain experiences from their previous learning.
MAIN BODY
Setting goal is the fundamental action to set the goal to achieve long term success.
Through setting the goal, it helps the student to focus on their education and provide the way to
collect the information which is useful for the academic study. In these resources, time and
interest in the particular subject is the major criteria to achieve success and also motivates them
when they feel down regarding not carrying the academic performances in better way (Zakariah,
Hashim and Musa, 2018). Thus, in such manner, it is stated that setting goal is important as it
helps in providing the right path and also set the common objectives through making the notes or
setting the time to accomplish task within the set time limit. Through this manner, the resources
are to be utilized in right manner and also they can learn new things in life.
Some important short term and long term goal for the university student is that in respect
of short term goal it is stated that once the teacher taught in the class, the notes are to be prepared
and then refer to the teacher within a week to resolve the queries raised. Setting the time period
such as within three days the chapter is to be completed (Smith, 2019). The short term goal is to
understand the learning of different field and also grabbing the knowledge by personally
interacting with them. In case of long term goal, it is stated that by focusing on making the self-
improvement through verifying the changes and then implementing such changes in ourself
(Long-Term and Short-Term Goals, 2020). The long term goal is to be set regarding making the
practice of studying in the early morning so that at the end of the year, they can learn all the
chapters. At the end of the semester, it is necessary that the resources and time which is set to
complete all the activities are to be gained through effective management. The long term goal
which is set is relating to scoring higher score to get the best colleges and for that particular time

table is set in which the time is divided for eating time, sleeping time and studying time. Thus, it
carries to be the important gaols which is useful in achieving greater success for the university
students.
The methods which is used by the students regarding improving their memory is related
to the adapting the notes making strategy. As this is one of the best method in which the student
can grab their learning easily through making notes for the important questions and write
answers in brief (Carr and Kimberley, 2016). As this is helpful for them when the exams are
coming, or they had to revised their learning regarding getting good marks.
As it is also examined that mediation is also one important techniques which expand the
learning capacity of the mind through reducing the unwanted things and enhancing the positive
thoughts in mind. This method is scientifically approved by the scientist as this build the memory
power and also helps student to feel motivated in living their daily routine life (Chai, Hwang and
Joo, 2017). It is also examined that last period studies not resulting in storing information for
longer time period, thus the studies which is conducted from the starting period in classes are
always memorized and retain in mind till the exam time.
The another method which is gainful in storing the new information is that relating the
new learning with the previous learning. By this aspect, they can easily recognize the new
learning and linking up the information with the exiting information which they gained through
attaining the classes. In these aspects, to make TO DO List is also beneficial as it makes the
easily routine sorted and also student manage their study in better manner. In this list, they can
mainly compose such activity which they will do in that day and also through this manner they
can feel relax by not carrying the wider information in their mind (Hernandez, Oubrayrie-
Roussel and Prêteur, 2016). The method which is related to the visual concept are also useful in
respect of retaining the new information in mind. As student had to attend all the classes and thus
its tough to collect and learn all the new information. Thus, by presenting the information
through visual concept result in sustaining the information for longer way and also helpful during
the time of exams.
Through this manner, they can remember new information and also can retain during the
exam time as the methods which are discussed above resulting in gaining advantages to student
for longer way (Berman, Chaffee and Sarmiento, 2018). As every student plan the strategies but
not work as per their set planning, thus in such manner the above methods helps them in

grabbing the new learning, and they can enhance their learning skills through choosing various
methods which bring successes to them.
CONCLUSION
From the above study, the report conclude the matters relating to examining the
importances of setting goal in respect of enhancing the academic performances. As few student
prepared the short term gaol which they can achieve within a day or in week or for some
particular time period and in context of preparing the long term, goal resulting in achieving once
the graduation is over or during the period of exams. It is also concluded that various methods
such as making notes or mediation or visual concept are undertaken, so that student can use to
improve the learning and also grabbing new information easily.
