INTRODUCTION
Study skills are those skills which are used and helpful for the students during the time of
their studies. The major importance which these skills have on the student is that students feel
more confident as they have the tendency to grab all the things at a faster rate and with this they
also feel motivated enough to work on their goals(Rosenberg, Lotz-Sisitka and Ramsarup,
2018). The reason for developing these skills is that these skills will not just be used in the
duration of academics but these skills will also be used when the students will chose their future
career. This report will cover important role which features of academic writing plays and the
personal experience which have been made with the learning of this course.
MAIN BODY
Why features of academic writing are important
Academic writing is that style which is used in the colleges and Universities which directly helps
in communicating the ideas to the community(Chigwada, 2019). This includes the ways by
which the academic writing has to be structured so that the reader understands the things in a
better way. Features of academic writing are important and those are discussed below-
Structure- For doing academic writing it is important for the writer to use a particular
structure because with that the ideas which will be mentioned in that will be explained in
a clear way and will be helpful for strengthening the arguments (Shen and Ho, 2020). It
will also be helpful in getting the idea as to how the things have to be written which
gives the clarity to the other person as to how the things have been made and what there
intentions are.
Balanced- Academic writing involves the arguments, justifications on the basis of which
the things are written and explained to the other person. This means that it is very
important to make the balancing of things in a better way so that it can be helpful in
explaining the things which has been written in the academic writing(Simpson, 2018).
Otherwise the things which have been mentioned will not be able to serve any purpose
and will not also explain that how the claims which are mentioned are strong.
Formal- It is very important in the academic writing to use the things in a formal way
because if the writing will be made in an informal context then in this way the main

ideology of the writing will be not be explained in a proper way. Academic writing uses
complex words and on the other side it basically avoids the use of contractions. It also
shows the seriousness of the writer towards the writing which they are writing.
Precise- Every writing is expected to show a preciseness in the work which means that
the reader is able to understand the things in a proper way(Maloney, Ryan and Ryan,
2021). The main factor for which the preciseness used is to define the words which are
used in a technical words. Preciseness is used in every type of writing and this is the duty
of the writer to focus on such things.
Discuss the personal experience which have been learned from this course for improving the
academic writing
From the article writing features I have learned that academic writing plays a very
important role because with this students gets the ability to write down the things in a more
formal and authentic way. By writing academic assessments I have evaluated that it is important
to have the structure(Sessanga and Musisi, 2019). I have learned that if the academic writing
will not be followed in a structured way then in this case the reader would not be able to
understand the things in a more clear way. For my writing I have given prior importance to the
structure which I have to follow and then in the other case I have to improve my preciseness for
the things which I will be writing. Writing the things in a preciseness is very important because
with this it has been seen that the motive of article is understood in better way and on the other
areas I have identified that if I will not focus on these things than it can become very difficult for
me to write the things in a formal way. With the features of writing I have thought that with the
writing which needs to be made in a formal way I have learned that with this it is also important
to work in a balanced way or the writing has to be made in a formal way(Kunicina and et. al.,
2019). Balancing is important because because academic writing involves some judgements and
arguments and if these things will not be explained in a well defined manner then all the writing
will be considered as vague. Vague writing is considered to be that which is not giving any
proper support of the things which have been written and the statements which have been
mentioned. Academic writing is the knowledge which is transferred from one to another and that
writing needs to include each and everything which is required. My academic writing which I

have developed realised that I have to make improvements in these things so that my writing can
become in a more proper and in a accurate way. This I have realised that what are the things
which are important to work on while doing academic writing(Park, 2018).
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that for working on the academics style it is
important for the person to develop certain things which will be important for them. Academic
writing involves some of the methods and the features because of which the things have to be
written and the content of the text must involve following things.
