Accident compensation Corporation is the New Zealand organization that is responsible
for compensating any kind of no- fault accidents where the victim had not contributed to the
accident. In the scheme the financial assistance is provided to the New Zealand citizen, resident,
and visitor. Any kind of physical injury attracts the financial assistance of a good amount. Mr.
James who is a lecturer met with an accident while going to the office (King, 2019). His wrist
got injured which made him incapable of going to the office for four months. Mr. James is now
planning to obtain the financial assistance for the accident.
The procedure for getting the medical treatment for Mr. James is firstly he must contact
his healthcare provider who could be doctor or a local medical center. The essentials forms
which include personal information or important personal documents such as community service
card will be required. The healthcare provider then will make a claim on behalf of the person.
Within a week, Mr. James would get to know through emails or mobile numbers whether he is
entitled for the claim or not. Once the news gets confirmed, the ACC will assign the recovery
team for the ongoing support. (Fulcher, 2018) As Mr. James is a lecturer and has not been to
office for four weeks. On this he must get the approval from his healthcare provider regarding
the injury. If the period is more than a week then he can get the 80 percentage of the average
income as financial compensation. The cost which Mr. James might have to incur would be
minimal has he has to simply spend money on obtaining form and fees to healthcare provider for
obtaining the certificate of claim. If he would be the international post graduate student studying
full time still, he would be eligible to obtain the financial assistance under the scheme. The
difference would be in the documentation process (Fulcher, 2018).
