To convert the present hotel into five star, the responsibilities of all the staff members are
also increases and for this reason, the role of house- keeping department is as follows:
ï‚· In hotel, housekeeping department is responsible to clean and fresh the rooms of their
guest awhile guest are out and in the room.
ï‚· They are also responsible for taking inventory during a day and they also check the stock
such as towels, fresh linens, cleaning supplies.
ï‚· Apart from this, they are also responsible for handle the laundry services, employee staff
rooms and also maintain outside the public services.
ï‚· Housekeeping department is also evaluated the employees in order to upgrade them so
that they provide the best facilities to their customers.
ï‚· In hotels, they are also established and maintain the standard procedure for cleaning and
sanitation as well.
ï‚· During check- out, if the guest will left any important items in the room such as jewellery
then it is their duty to keep them and inform the manager about the item.

Hotel linen in the housekeeping department is quite important because linen stock is
considered the basic need for the every guest. Such that the housekeeping department is makes
sure that the large volume of the soiled linens are washes properly and they should look fresh
and feel crispy as well (May, 2019). On the other side, if these items are not well maintained by
the housekeeping department then the guest are not even comfortable with the environment
because it creates negative impact upon them.
In hotel, if all the linen stock is not forecasted then it will lead to delay all the work
schedule and does not meet the demands of their customers. For instance, in bathrooms if
toiletries are not maintained then it makes the customers discomfort and also creates negative

Housekeeping is like a centre of the circle because it directly interrelated with their other
department of the hotel and they all work together for smooth functioning of their business.
Housekeeping coordination with front office: The cooperation of both department
should be very closely such that housekeeping department prepares the room while the front –
office sales those room after proper cleaning. If on the other side, if a close relationship in not
maintained then it will be quite tough for front office to sell those rooms and satisfy the

housekeeping department is also clean and shape up the room after the guest depart and then
report it to front office about the number of vacated so that the housekeeping department can do
cleaning and handed over the keys of rooms.

cards, locker promotion and confirmation etc.

By summing up above report it has been concluded that managing accommodation
services plays an effective role in hotels. As report concluded that there are variety of hotels in
UK and London which are categorised from one star to five star hotels. Further, the present study
concluded some essential and basic things which are needed for the hotels and also concluded
different role of front office department within its accommodation services. Beside this, report
also concluded that basic functions of housekeeping department and the importance of
forecasting the linen stock, then it concluded that through housekeeping effective
interrelationships with their different department it helps for smooth functioning of the hotel.
Moreover, report also concluded the importance of scheduling and maintenance in order to
minimize the disruption to their guest and also concluded the importance of security in the hotel.
